Oooh, 80 minute production diary with Stallone, awesome, I'm going to enjoy that. I loved watching the movie with his commentary, he gave a lot of nice insights into the production, aside from being a Rambo fan, it's one of my favorite DVD commentaries, I like when you watch those and get valuable information on the movie, some just suck, like Rambo 2, the director just sits there calling out what's happening on screen as if a blind person were watching, he was like the John Madden of movie commentary, thanks bub, I can see that with my eyes :lol

I've watched a couple of those. :slap

I used to dodge commentaries, didn't like the idea of watching a movie and hearing other stuff over it, I forget which movie got me to change that mindset, I think it was Rambo, big shock right, I just wanted to learn more about the production. From there I watched First Blood through Rambo 3 with commentary but they stunk, First Blood was ok and different because it was David Morrel, the novel author, so you got to learn about the book and differences, but not so much insight about the movie, Rambo 2 was terrible and Rambo 3 was just ok. Public Enemies is another good commentary, pick up some interesting facts about the real life incidents as you watch the fictional portrayal.

Another good movie commentary was the ones from Back to the Future... It was director commentary, but it was VERY interesting. It would have been nice to hear from Michael J Fox though...

im still hanging onto this, no way im cancelling!! Great pics maulfan! Im sorry if someone has already asked this, but does the knife come out of the sheath?

I have preorder the premium format and i desided to keep it...
If i had more choices on rambo figures maybe i would't choose this one but for now this is the best represantation to the character for me as i don't like busts or statues.i prefer mixed media
i refuse to pay $300 on hot toys rambo 3 (when it came ot it was only $99 and for me this is another reason that hot toys figures now are overpriced)
one another major problem is that the paint applications of sideshow compare with other companies are very poor.
I can see fleshtone and details on hot toys rambo bust but on the certain premium format all i can see is just plain flesh colour
just my opinion;)

And since Rambo is getting no love here, I thought this quote was appropriate.

"I want, what they want, and every other guy who came over here and spilled his guts and gave everything he had, wants! For our country to love us as much as we love it! That's what I want!"

Actually it's more like:

"I want, what they want, and every other fan of the movies with eyes in their heads and money to spend, wants! For Sideshow to sculpt rambo just as well as they sculpted him! (points to Indiana Jones Premium Format statues) That's what I want!"

I love the Rambo films, I'm a huge Stallone fan, but I just can't abide this piece. If you like the piece, then hey, more power to ya, but me, I'll wait until one day someone does the early films justice in statue form, as this certainly wasn't it. Not for me. Not by a long damn shot.

It's one thing to not like the piece, but just because you don't, doesn't mean there's something wrong with people that do.

you are right when you say that the Rambo HT figures are overpriced, but you cannot compare the Hot Toys Rambo Bust with the Rambo PF from Sideshow, beside that there is a different price (50,- to 289,-) the quality of a PF is just perfect.
Maybe the likeness of this PF is not the best one, but the quality will be as perfect as Sideshow works.
That`s my opinion:)

i totally agree with you.... The only think that i compare although is the colouring.i will get this premium format, i just wanted to see a better paint application (meaning better fleshtones and shades on the body muscles) and i would be totally happy...for me the likeness is the best part of the statue...Sylvester stalone is not the sexiest man of hollywood...maybe this is the reason that many people found the face of the statue ugly. The truth is that Stalone has a type of mongoloid face in reality and this is related to an accident he had when he was a kid (Although i am not absolutely sure about that) ;)
Actually i was talking about hot toys rambo 3 1/6 scale figure.
sideshow's price was $99 and the figure had more accessories than many of the newest figures that hot toys now produce for $180 and in terms of quality i think rambo was great...

:gah:
I smell excuses...You cant say the statue looks retarded because Stallone looks retarded:lol
The likeness is just not there, if you buy this piece, its out of either love of the character or "artistic interpretation", not for likeness...

The story I heard is that his face had some permanent nerve damage done to it when doctors used some kind of forceps during his delivery. I can't confirm its veracity, though.

That is true.

But it still doesn't excuse the PF from looking more like Jason Voorhees than John Rambo.
