And since Rambo is getting no love here, I thought this quote was appropriate.

"I want, what they want, and every other guy who came over here and spilled his guts and gave everything he had, wants! For our country to love us as much as we love it! That's what I want!"

It's not a dead on pose but when I was picking stills for my collage, I had to use that one, I love that speech.

That's one of the reasons I love the character, he just wants to serve his country, do the right thing, just wants the same love back as he gave his country, and despite being ____ on by his countrymen and the military, he still fights for right.

To me, or do you mean everyone?

Just in general. I actually wanted to ask you, and perhaps you can't say but...If you took the new photos for Sideshow, the feedback from the forums must have reached them.....What was your impression from Sideshow in terms of how they reacted to our feeedback on the forum?.... Were they completely happy with the sculpt and surprised from all the negative feedback? Was the feedback presented here helpful to them?

For me, personally, unless something new comes along, Rambo is the most important character to me on a personal level. T2 is one of my all-time favorite films, but Rambo has deeper meaning for me that Terminator movies just don't offer.

As for Sideshow responding to the feedback here, it wasn't discussed, I told them how happy I was with the end result and that's it.

They just don't write scripts like that any more. :lecture

Too bad... I was always curious if all the questions, analysis and dissections ever really made a difference to them in the end...

Stallone still does, it was more of a selfish speech but he wrote a pretty good one for Rambo 4 that was, sadly, cut from the theatrical release and at the moment is only a DVD deleted scene, but apparently they're going to release a director's cut sometime with the speech and other shots back in. It's a similar speech, filled with frustration and not knowing what to do with himself, it really adds to the movie and for what little play time it would add, I don't get why it was cut down.

Sometimes you have to wonder why certain things are cut. They don't always make the best decisions during editing.

Being an artist, I'm sure it matters, when you pour yourself into work, you want it to be well received, but as is said around here often, actions speak more than words. You wouldn't think both editions would be wait list right now based on the reaction of the boards, but they are.

I'm sure Sideshow takes everything from a site like this with a grain of salt, because some people offer up productive commentary that could be helpful to know, and others just use web forums as a place to rant and make a spectacle without consequence and you can't put any value in commentary like that, often people making those comments aren't even really judging the piece, it's just fun to trash something or try and stir up a hornet's nest.

Something like that speech is usually for time or pacing. I can imagine that for everyone working on the movie, they knew it so well, it didn't occur to them what someone fresh seeing the movie might think. To me, the scene sets up a great explanation of his attitude and behavior in the first act of the movie that without it, is a little bit hard to understand, but with the speech intact, it's very clear and much more profound.

It looks to mongoloid, like a cousin to the Voorhees clan.

I too would happily buy a FIRST BLOOD Rambo PF (or one from any of the movies)... if he doesn't look like a mongoloid.

I don't get this critique. You people do know that this "retard" face is Stallone's quintessential facial expression. Or have I been watching a different Stallone than you for the last couple of decades? I'm being serious here. Stallone is known for that face.

The major criticism of this piece baffles me. :dunno

If you've go the current DVD, just watch the deleted scenes, it's in there. I actually like most of the delete footage, it'll be nice to have a director's cut.

At the risk of opening a can of worms, I was mentioning in the Hot Toys thread that the 1/4 scale HT bust was smaller than the 1/4 scale PF so here's a shot to show the difference in size.

QUARTER.jpg

Which is the more true 1/4 scale, who knows, without knowing the height of Stallone's head, can't say. The HT bust is 2.25" tall, the PF is 2.5" inches tall.

Ah, well, I wouldnt be surprised if a director's cut comes out in the late summer or fall to cash in on Expendable hype.

How does the Hot toys rambo 3 bust look in person maulfan? Ive been considering buying it since ive seen some pretty decent prices on ebay lately.

It's a nice piece, especially for the $50 it cost originally. Just so you know, it's all plastic/vinyl, it's not a polystone bust like something Sideshow'd sell. I personally feel like the likeness on it is weaker than Yulli's Rambo 3 figure sculpt, but it's still a nice looking Rambo. Some people might think $50 is too much for a plastic bust, I like Rambo so I had no issues spending that for it.
