Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters - 8/10
I really liked this one! This wasn't a perfect movie, but pretty much perfect entertainment for a lazy Sunday. I didn't have the highest hopes, was doubting to go see it up to this morning, but I'm very glad I went after all! The story isn't special, but the action and humor is very entertaining. Both Hansel and Gretel were awesome characters and the two actors had great chemistry together. Famke Janssen was really good in the witch's part and you could see she had fun making this.
I also liked the fact that not all effects came from some computer. It looked like there were a lot of practical effects as well which was nice!

Overall it's something I'd definitely watch again, so I'm sure I'll pick up the Blu when it comes out!! :rock :rock :rock

I really liked Hansel and Gretel too. Thought it'd among the likes of Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, but it kicked-***.

Seriously didn't feel like 90 minutes.

Season 2 is even better

Sweet. Starting tonight. :yess:

JACK THE GIANT SLAYER - 7.5/10

A good adventure story with alot of heart

[
PROS
Good Visuals and a Cool Final Battle Sequence
Chemistry between the characters
Princess was beautiful
ObiWan

CONS
Predictible storyline
Stanly Tucci's sidekick was awful, glad he died a terrible death in the movie

All in all worth checking out, what i took away from it was the fact you can be anything, even if your a simple farm boy, just gotta have heart.

The Last Stand - 6/10
Well, it wasn't bad.
Wasn't really good either... It was somewhere in between. It had some fun bits, some great action, but the main reason to see this movie; Arnold's first leading role is the thing that dissapoints the most IMO.

He really aged, and for the most part the role he played was centered around that. It's about an aging sheriff who wants to have a quiet old day after all. But some action scenes, especially in the end, make it all to clear that he isn't really back in shape to do major action. Also it couldn't hurt to refresh his acting skills after he's been away from movies for so long.

So in the end I'd say it's definitely entertaining, has a lot of fun bits, some nice action and an ok story.
Are you thinking of watching this in the theatre? Don't. Just wait for the Blu or DVD.

I think you summed it up pretty well. My wife's a big fan of action flicks, so we saw this and Bullet To The Head. Both are passable popcorn munchers, maybe best seen as a matinee to save a little dough. If you go in expecting Skyfall, you're going to have a *****ty afternoon and leave pissed off. If you go in expecting to laugh a little, cringe a little, but ultimately root for the action hero of yesteryear, then it's perfectly fine and fairly fun. This isn't exactly the high point of the movie season either, so it's not like you're passing up on a ton of other great options to see these.

Stoker 7/10

Enjoyed it mostly for the distinct visual style of Chan-Wook Park and the creepy chemistry of Wasikowska and Goode. Clint Mansell's score is also creepy and brilliant.

The film didn't really offer anything different for me, the plot didn't stand above any other psychological thriller imo.

I am still left confused about the shoes and the key to the drawer, I really would like to have seen them better explained :dunno

Re: Rate The Last Movie You Watched.

Had an ACU marathon yesterday.

Iron Man - 8.5/10

Great origin film that took an unlikable arms dealer & changed him into a Likable character trying to make up for past sins.

Overall it was a great character-driven story about taking responsibily for ones actions that resonated well

THOR - 8/10

Odin banishing Thor was such a great scene. The ending was wonderful with the 'lovers seperated by eternity' theme.

Overall a great character driven tale at it's core about love of family, friends and companionship.

Captain America: The First Avenger 9/10

The WW2 setting was handled perfectly. Seeing Steve go from the weak puny human full of ambition and heart to a capable and daring hero was wonderful. His relationship with Peggy was great, loved the final line "i had a date"

Overall a great character-driven story about the underdog who gets a chance to show the world what he is capable of.

The Avengers - 6.8/10

I thought watching the lead-in films immediatley beforehand would make me like this more. Sadly it had the opposite affect, just highlighted all that was missing.

Action was plentiful and probably the best done by this studio, HULK was great.

Overall it was an entertaining but hollow action fest with some funny lines, lacking in motivation and characterisation that made the characters engaging and stakes of any substance or meaning.

Carry On Up The Khyber - 8/10

My favourite Carry On Film along with "Don't lose your head" and "Camping"

Only Nova would give a crap film like Captain America an almost perfect score, and then turn around to give Avengers a mediocre score.

Re: Rate The Last Movie You Watched.

Wreck-It Ralph. One too many subplots for my taste, but still a decent flick. 7/10.

Re: Rate The Last Movie You Watched.

I'll take anything, Tyler Perry's Good Deeds or even Piranha 3DD over Life of Pi winning though. So I'm happy. :) :lol
