Jurassic Park IMAX 3D

100/10

I couldn't GAS about the 3D. It didn't add to it, but didn't detract, so that's good enough.

But JP on IMAX? Holy ****.

I saw it in theaters when I was 12, and countless times on TV since then (best estimation: eleventy million times). Seeing it all again on the (very) big screen was almost overwhelming. I have amazing memories of this movie, and even though I could quote every line, it didn't take anything away from seeing it again on the big screen.

And the first T-Rex roar on the theater speakers? Fantastic.

Somewhat surprisingly, I actually got choked up at a few points. For no reason in terms of the plot, but some of those "big" shots, when the score comes in all Jurassic Park-y, like the first time they really pan up on the Brachiosaurus. All of the movie's amazingness, and my memories of all the enjoyment I've gotten from it - my throat muscles never stood a chance.

Hey man, great review! I saw this in IMAX on my birthday (April 5) and like you I loved it so much! Seeing it on the IMAX is amazing! I guess if you were 12 when it was in theaters you are around my age (I was also 12 in 1993).
It's my favorite movie of all time, and this was my 68th viewing. I still have a ways to go to get to eleventy million like you!

I wrote reports and projects in high school all centered around Jurassic Park. Imagine my excitement when I heard that the re-release of my favorite movie of all time would happen on my birthday. I feel it is Spielberg's gift to me, 20 years later! :lol

I also get emotional when they first see the brachiosaurus, and when John Williams' amazing score crescendos.

So JP 3D gets a 10/10! :yess:

Re: RATE The Last Movie You Watched.

Inglourious Basterds - 9.5/10. Awesome.
Planet Hulk - 5/10. Pretty short for such a long arc. Oh well, killed an hour. :slap

Re: RATE The Last Movie You Watched.

The show has gore and ****. And you watch an hour per episode.

It's not the same as LOTR, just on that alone.
It's very different from LotR, but I've seen more than a few people make complaints about too much "walking and talking" in GoT, which I believe is the same thing you said about LotR.

GOT > LOTR
I agree.

Jurassic Park: 9.5/10
Of course I have seen it before, but that was when I was a kid. This is the first time I actually watched it for more than just the t-rex scenes. Great movie, really holds up after 20 years. The 3D was pretty impressive as well.

I agree.

My problem with Lord of the Rings isn't talking and walking. It's just my lack of really getting invested that world. It's not interesting to me. I don't care about the one ring. I don't care about the nonsense that goes on behind the scenes. I care about Frodo making his journey because he has too. And that's about it. Everything else just doesn't work for me.

But for a TV show, I can get into the characters, slowly, and enjoy them as they progress, and that seems like a better format then a 3 hour movie about an event that doesn't grab me.

Re: RATE The Last Movie You Watched.

Olympus has Fallen. Dull script. Atrocious CGI. And a pretty been there, done that feel.

But you know what? It worked. It was fun. Kinda tense at some moments, and quite funny. Watching Gerard kill nameless goons without remorse was very satisfying. Definitely one of the better films i've seen this year. Just a good dumb time.

What GI JOE 2 should've been.

Re: RATE The Last Movie You Watched.

Spring Breakers: I don't even know. It pulls off exactly what it was trying, it was it's own perfect movie. Pretty much un-scorable.

But man, it was ****ing weird, and I liked it, I'm not sure if I was supposed to like it, but I do.

Go see it.

Re: RATE The Last Movie You Watched.

I'm so glad you liked it. I'm always afraid of spreading my love for it because it's such a strange twisted little tale. It's the most visceral film experience i've had since Crank.

Re: RATE The Last Movie You Watched.

Oh yeah, beyond amazing. However, I can't see many here that would appreciate it for what it is.
