Watch it again and if you don't like it I'll give you a hug and tell you everything will be OK.
Oblivion - 7.5/10 - A good simple Sci-Fi flick. I loved the drones. They were bad *** and mad kewl digitial tiger-like sounds. Saw the 'twist' coming early on though...
The Great Gatsby (2013) - 5/10 - Had to read this back school, but didn't remember any of it. Decent acting and story but the ****ty CGI ruins everything. Everything looked fake. Also felt like it was going on for hours and hours. And hip hop music? The director should have watched a few episodes of Boardwalk Empire.
Don't Go In The Woods (1981) - 4/10 - I like super low budget slashers, but this thing was bad.
Though I didn't really have any desire to see The Great Gatsby, I know I'll complete ignore it now that I heard there was hip hop in it. Why? Wasn't it a period piece?
Don't dismiss it because of that. I wasn't sure how that would work either but I thought it blended in nicely. It wasn't like all of a sudden a rap video started. Most of the songs seemed to have been done in a way to have a 20's feel vibe. I will say the guy that directed it is know for doing odd stuff with films based on his previous work.
I enjoyed this movie, and this is on of my favorite books of all time. The director of this one also directed the 1996 Romeo and Juliet and Moulin Rogue so this "stylization" is something he's done several times.
I'd give this movie a 7/10 for me. I really liked the costume design, set pieces, and the acting performances. For me the biggest problem was that the movie did seem to get a little drawn out.
A Royal Affair (Danish: En kongelig affære) is a 2012 historical drama film directed by Nikolaj Arcel, starring Mads Mikkelsen, Alicia Vikander and Mikkel Følsgaard. The story is set in the 18th century, at the court of the mentally ill King Christian VII of Denmark, and focuses on the romance between his wife, Caroline Matilda of Great Britain, and the royal physician Struensee.
Cogan's Trade...err, Killing Them Softly-9/10. I loved it, and that last monologue from Pitt will probably go down as one of my favorites.
