Don't Be Afraid Of the Dark - 7 / 10.

It was a decent little film, but not my thing really. I liked the cast (I didn't realize there were so many Aussies in it :lol), but.. ehh.

Kinda boring, but some cool moments.

Halloween: My favorite Halloween movie. Has been since I was a kid. But man is some of the dialogue from Annie and Lynda cringe worthy. "totally, totally, totally, utterly fantastic, speed kills":lol

Alien: First time sitting through the whole thing. Even though I pretty much knew what was going to happen, it was still pretty creepy and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Dog Soldiers - 9/10

My favourite werewolf movie.
Great film. :duff

I just finished watching The Orphanage (La Orfanatos) - 7.8 / 10

I liked it - not the film I was expecting. After also watching Don't Be Afraid Of The Dark tonight, I saw lots of similarities between the two. Then again, you could say Pan's Labyrinth shares a few similarities with those as well.

FURY - 8/10

Should be more artistic visually. Third act is too corny and thus too dragging.
Overall - very good story with interesting characters, nice actors and solid cinematography.
I liked it much more than "Saving Private Ryan".

Halloween 35th Anniversary blu ray. 9.5/10.

I love what they did with the colors of this movie. The transfer was color corrected and approved by the film's Director of Photography Dean Cundey himself.
The neighborhood in which the movie took place, was shot in sunny Pasadena, CA. A few minutes away from where I grew up as a child.

The original movie showed bright green trees/leaves throughout and a very warm presentation. Well, the movie takes place during Autumn and Cundey finally made right on the colors and brought a more natural look. There's a more brownish-tone and oranges come through a little more, conducive to this time of year.

The movie isn't razor sharp and it was never intended to be. It still retains a little blurriness and grain you'd come to expect for a film produced in 1978.
Overall, a fantastic transfer, very iconic and memorable soundtrack, and what I think is the best release of this movie to date. Oh, and the story f-cking rocks too! :rock

Evil Dead (1981). 9/10.
Believe it or not, I've never it. I'm such a chicken. :lol

I just can't watch it; I know it's an iconic film, but I'd be very uncomfortable sitting through it.

The whole demonic / possession aspect of the horror genre, has never sat well with me. I'll never watch The Exorcist again.

Ever. :lol

See.. this is a film I'd consider owning on Blu-Ray - & I hardly own any.

I'm only reserving that format for the absolute best of the best in my view; stuff like Enter The Dragon, JAWS, the original SW, ALIEN, The Thing, Jurassic Park - etc.

The Exorcist, 1973. Easily in my top 3 favorite Horror movies of all time and most likely at the #1 spot. I didn't watch it for the first time until the early 80's though. But when you read about how viewers back then were walking out of the theaters (movie hasn't finished), people throwing up and even some fainting, you just know this movie was ground-breaking. :lol

Richard Smith(may he RIP) did a fantastic job turning young Linda Blair into the demonic figure we've come to love/hate. He's the lead crew in the make-up and special effects for the movie.

Thanks for the memories Richard and for the many sleepless nights you induced on many of us. LOL!

I never even knew about this film until last Tuesday night when I saw the trailer infront of Gone Girl. Looks great!

Definitely a sleeper with a last minute PR campaign it seems. Go see it, you will not be disappointed! :duff
