Impeccable taste as usual.

You'll love whichever you choose to watch first, I barely remember the original.

I didn't care for the remake. It tried too hard to outdo the original. The original is a classic.

I'll give it a go one day. I was hoping to see the remake in the cinema at the time but I never got round to it.

The Evil Dead (1981).
There are basically two types of audiences for this - those who view it as a comedy and those who view it as a truly scary flick.
:wave

It's old, low budget and trashy... but the atmosphere of fear and horror was intended and still there.
Even quasi-sequel, while being less serious, is incredibly creepy and scary.

I can't bring myself to watch The Evil Dead. :lol

Those kinds of movies just.. get under my skin.. can't do it. :monkey1

Watch the first one, crap yourself and watch the hilarious sequel. :lecture

I might as well give the remake a try, since you people are making it sound like it isn't half bad at all.

It's fine really, nothing special, some good parts, but it's nothing like the original in terms of resemblance, bear that in mind.

I don't care about the originals, so I was able to find enjoyment in the remake.

That scene cracked me up big time during first two viewings. :lol
This is definitely one movie everyone should see without knowing anything about any particular scene.

Of course guys - I'm not even implying that any of you celebrate that stuff in any way. :lol

I just can't stomach those sorts of films, honestly - even the well made 'ghost' ones. I find them completely unsettling. I'll never watch The Exorcist or Hellraiser again. Both very good films, but not something I want to experience twice.

I own the original NOES, & to me that's kind of where I draw my personal line. Yeah, there's some of the aforementioned in there, but it's such a good all round film that it doesn't just hit you in the face with disturbing **** every two minutes, & I not only respect Wes Craven's talent in making it, but I actually really dig the movie.

I also like Werewolf films - & again, there's a little of the dark arts (for lack of a better phrase) peppered in certain ones, but not to the point where it drives the narrative or visuals etc. I've seen a lot of horror films over the years; the good, the bad - & the plain ugly. I've been there now, & I've no need to revisit some of them ever again. :lol
