Cool. Fistful of Dollars is my favorite western.

That's pretty good. Do you like Drive? You might like it.

Thanks man, and yeah I haven't seen Drive sense it's release so I don't really remember the details but I do remember having enjoyed it. I've been meaning to re-visit it and pick it up on BluRay along with around 15-20 other movies that have been on my collection want list for awhile now.

Prison Break: Season 3 - 7.8/10

Better than I expected and overall a solid season but the English guy was irritating.

Spectre: 5.5/10

I was surprised at how mediocre it was. Even though I didn’t really like Skyfall, I could at least praise it for the mood and tone it created which I think nailed Bond perfectly. But for Spectre, it looks like they went out of their ways to address everything that has been criticized about Daniel Craig’s movies, namely needing more humor and more action. And it proved that those are the elements that kill any Bond movie! I read review after review stating that Craig looked bored throughout the movie. That’s not quite right. It’s more like he looked annoyed at having to spit out such terrible “jokes” and perform such ludicrous action sequences! No wonder he seemed so fed up in all the interviews! I mean, really. The Fiat guy in front of Bond in the Aston Martin? REALLY?!? I thought the music was particularly bad in this one too. Not just the abominable theme by Sam Smith, but the soundtrack. It was all “heroic” and extra exciting. And were they purposely trying to call back as many old Bond movies as possible, like in Die Another Day? The Day of the Dead sequence reminded me of Quantum, as did the Specre base at the end in the middle of the desert. I had flashbacks of Jaws from SWLM on the train. The helicopter scenes reminded me of FYEO. Swan’s questionnaire reminded me of Q’s questionnaire in TND (where his answers are meant as a wink to the audience). I could go on.

Some good points: I thought the Bautista fight on the train was fantastic, even though it reminded me of SWLM (which isn’t the worst thing since I'm actually fond of SWLM), and I actually liked the cinematography, which I know has been criticized for being dull and washed out. I also liked all the stuff with M, Q and Moneypenny, and the one-take opening.

So, out of the Craig Bonds, I still like Quantum best, Casino Royale, then Skyfall (maybe a tie with Royale and Skyfall), and way last Spectre.

I never cared for it much either. Well directed, but all the little side plots I found really annoying. Not to mention Pacino's overacting, which became his thing in the 90s but I found it so bad in this in particular.

Yeah I love Pacino in 90s flicks like Carlitos Way and Scent of a Woman but I just wasn't feeling his character 'Vincent' in Heat.. I just couldn't get into it. I really enjoyed some scenes, DeNiro was cool and my favorite character overall... The Heist towards the end is one of the most badass shootouts put to film though. I found the end face off between DeNiro and Pacino kinda underwhelming.. I don't know I guess I expected something else.

Despite how I don't love the film, it does have some redeeming values. The shootout is perfectly done. The whole sub plot with with his daughter trying to commit suicide and his wife cheating... eh, doesn't give his character anymore depth and it didn't really need it anyway. Deniro was definitely the better of the two.

Love Carlito's Way. I like how it's basically Tony Montana if he tried to go straight. Both directed by Brian De Palma too.

Carlito's Way is my favorite De Palma film, as much as I love scarface (I worshipped it as a kid) and the untouchables is good too I just really like Carlito. Been meaning to pickup the Blitzway figure for forever now.

10 Cloverfield Lane (2016) - 8/10

Wow, I *really* enjoyed this movie.

I was worried that they'd flub the ending and to me they stuck the landing. I was very happy with the resolution.

My only real complaint is the fact that the PG-13 rating forced the movie to have certain events take place off screen especially since what she was witnessing was so important to her character arc. They did a good enough job of implying what was going on but I couldn't help but feel slightly robbed that I didn't get to fully experience the main character's journey the way I would have liked. That's really my only complaint though.

First Blood - 9.5/10

Such a breath of fresh air. They really don't make action movies like this one any more, where's there's grit and grime and everything is done with stunt work and pyrotechnics, all on location, on some freezing mountain somewhere that's wet and muddy and hard to access, in addition to having a plot and thoughtful characterisation. This one is a gem. No cut corners or Hollywood laziness here.

Silver Linings Playbook 7.5/10

I wanted to like this one a lot more but in the last act it just became a total chick flick. The wife loved it so maybe it could be considered a date movie.

Beethoven: great for kids.

But for any parents out there, there was one pretty weird and extremely disturbing plot point. The whole motivation behind the bad guys is that they are abducting dogs for the purpose of. . .testing how messy it gets when they shoot dogs with newly developed bullets, in the skull. Not joking about that. Thankfully, that part flew over the head of my 5 year old. But pretty ****ed up. Hard to believe they couldn't find a more kid friendly device to get the bad guys comically chasing dogs around.
