Point Break (2015)

I made it through an hour. Terrible movie. Felt like a Fast and Furious action sports rip-off.

I like his movies. His ego is almost visible on the screen at times but it usually doesn't detract too much. In this case it's more a matter of a brilliant first half leading to a relatively mediocre second half.

I'd definitely recommend a watch, if not a purchase. I preferred Bone Tomahawk.

I'll give it a look, thanks.

I also liked Bone Tomahawk.

Vacation - Van Down By The River/10

What a pile of steaming garbage. Lowest of the low, sell out, unfunny, poop humor, trying too hard, pure garbage. So many funny people, zero laughs, a lot of cringe. Take the hard copies of this and fry them asap.

I hope you mean the remake with Ed Helms? Yeah, accurate review. I bought the damn movie too.

The new Vacation is a Prime example of why most modern comedies are horrible. Filmmakers today often confuse crude and disgusting with witty and humorous.
Swimming in a pool of toxic/medical waste is something a 7 year old could come up with, and probably something only a 7 year old could find funny.

The thing that's the saddest is the concept it solid. Vacation is timeless. So updating it with Rusty wanting to recreate his father's vacation is a perfect premise. But instead of relying on subtle wit and current racism, sexism, political and family issues, it takes everything from the original and hits it as on the nose as any moronic child could. Take Clark driving to the wrong part of town and getting Honky Lips written on his car and the rims stolen to a giant ***** that they actually **********. Swimming in actual human waste. Cousin Eddie's implied incest to Hemsworth has a boner and is waving it in your face. It's like I entered the world of Idiocracy for 2 hours and watched their version of the original. Is this really what we've devolved into?

I agree with everything you said.

SPECTRE

Finally saw this on Blu-ray and was really looking forward to it after Skyfall. I liked it overall, I love Craig as Bond. The music in the past two films has been great as has the subtle humour and throwaway lines.

I felt the visuals were less stunning in this compared with Skyfall. The action less enthralling. Bautista felt pretty transient, no real threat or tension there.
They had been after Bellucci for years and then completely wasted her. I expected her to look ravishing but instead she came across as a bit old and tired.
Seydoux wasn't a great Bond girl... maybe a little too young and no chemistry with Craig. The girls were a misfire in this.
I think the franchise is lesser without Judy Dench.. and the Sam Smith song is awful. I love Bond title sequences, stunning visuals, but the song really dampened it. Can't believe they gave Smith an Oscar for it.

It's a Craig / Mendes Bond film though, so there was enough style there for me to enjoy and re-watch. I hope Craig is onboard for at least one more go around.

7/10

The Force Awakens 7.3/10
I was loving this movie for awhile and then it just lost steam. Too much staring between the characters that was supposed to generate nostalgic feelings I guess. Plus that ending, terrible. Loved the new characters though.

Wow. I've never even seen Blankman and I like both David Allen Grier and Damon Wayans. Were you just flipping through the channels and it was on?

Yeah, I was just finishing a workout and it happened to be on. Not something I'll seek out, it was just some noise to have on in the background.
