Daddy's Home - 7/10

I liked it, I think I might just be very forgiving of comedies. The skateboarding scene was worth the price of the rental alone, but then the rental only cost $2.

Saw that recently too, I'd give it the same rating - excellent film! :rock

Inside Out - The movie that makes grown men cry.

Also a movie that respects its audience enough not to dumb down the story.

The irony is that the sentimental undertones will definitely fly over the heads of children and hit home with the adults instead. My friend told me a funny story of when he was at the theater with his kids and was choked up while his children were laughing at the jokes. He had to console himself by chanting "F- this movie! I'm a man!" :slap :lol

As for myself, I'm so glad I watched it alone. Cuz I'm a man! Yearghh! :monkey3

Zootropolis 8.5/10

So this was a lovely surprise this afternoon. I thought it would be a movie to entertain my son, but in actual fact this film has a really pertinent message for all of us. Tackles xenophobia head-on, and I'm thinking islamophobia in particular. Well done, Disney

Also loved the Breaking Bad reference

That's one reason I like 3d. The glasses hide my emotions lol.

I watched Inside Out with my kids a couple nights ago and they had already seen it in the theater with their mom who broke down in tears during the movie. So they were specifically watching me to see if I'd tear up, forcing me to have to go into into a bit of a Zen-like trance to keep it together. I even did the whole "stretch then dab my eye as my arm comes down" bit. :lol

The Revenant: 8/10

Maybe the experience is better at the cinema, but at home it's... okay, I guess? The visuals are breathtaking and stunning and you "feel" the harshness of the environment. The way it's shot and directed in general is magnificent. The performances are all great as well, but thing is, it's a 2.5 hour "documentary" in a way. Yeah, you still have the "sub-plots" and all, but it's mostly a movie whose backbone are the visuals and the fact that it's shot on location. Which still, is impressive, but since the story is so "light", I can't go higher than an 8/10.

Hateful 8 - 6.5/10

Not bad, but bloated, at 2:47, it really could have used some whittling down.

Heads explode and fall apart with such ease that I thought I was watching The Walking Dead.

Is there seriously a longer version out there?

God's Not Dead 2: 9/10

Ghost in the shell - 9/10 I can't wait for the live action movie to crap all over this.

I like the anime series(most of them), but this...

Damn.

Btw, can anyone recommend some pre-2000's anime, kinda like this one? Sci-fi/action. Thanks!
