Daimajin - 4/10

A 1966 Japanese supernatural, monster movie, with a plotline that's similar to a Zatoichi film. I guess it should be worth nothing, that the director, Kimiyoshi Yasuda, also directed several entries to the Zatoichi series.

As for the plot itself, poor villagers are being oppressed by a lord who usurped his master, and then a giant stone monster (aka. a dude in a plaster suit) shows up to save the day. The monster design was terribly cheap, and the movie isn't anything special, at all. However, the acting was fairly decent in some instances. I thought that the performances from the "bad guys" were substantially better than the "heroes" - who were powerless, annoying, and idiotic at best.

It's available on YouTube with English subs, or dubbed if you want to have some lulz.

Yeah, I know. I just can't be a fan of that character...which is too bad, because he looked cool with the painted face.

What is it specifically you're not a fan of? Just him "losing"? Would you have preferred a Gladiator style ending?

No kidding. But, the real history of Wallace is even more gruesome than what was shown in the film. He was hung, drawn and quartered.

Middle ages torture is the thing of nightmares. I can't help but think of Mozgus in Berserk, which would use torture to "purify" people :lol

Yeah...that's why I can't like him. My heroes can get tortured like Robocop, but then they have to somehow avenge their tragedy. If they ever do a sequel to Braveheart and Wallace returns a zombie or something and kills all the bad guys, then I'll be a fan.

Well, Braveheart was a historically-based film, so a happy ending for the character was never going to happen. William Wallace may have died like a dog, but he inspired generations of people. He's a big national hero in Scotland, too.

I remember The Tudors had some torture scenes that would keep me up at night. Scary, scary stuff. Then when I finally read Berserk, I had to skip some pages to avoid the imagery :lol.

No, no, Wallace did keep his balls. He lost just about everything else though. According to the voiceover at the end of the movie, his head was set on London Bridge and his limbs were sent to all four corners of Britain.

Cash Cow. :lol

28 Weeks Later - 73/100.

Transformers: Age of Extinction - 21/100. Nearly three hours of Michael Bay stupidity. Would be lower if not for all of the gratuitous shots of Nicola Peltz's ass.

X-Men: Apocalypse - Incomplete. Fell asleep during the movie.
