The Stuff (1985) 5.5/10

If you happen to be in the mood to watch a movie that firmly belongs in the "its so bad its good'' category then this is the movie for you. Pure cheese and camp, no wonder the movie never scared me as a kid. Can't get enough of The Stuff. :)

LOL! I remember this movie. It also has a great song to match all that cheese and camp. :lol

Starship Troopers- 6.5/10 - I saw it today. It's been a while, but I enjoyed the film, but I don't know if I can call it a good film. I see the Robocop influence and style, but they killed some of the best characters and I hated that about the movie.

Gotta have some TnA in an 80's horror. [emoji4]

Yup!
It was before my time, but don't forget the Hammer Horror movies in the 60's - 70's. Watched them in the 80's when I was a young boy, but the TnA made me feel like a man! :)

Yeah, but that was after watching a "sad" physically and mentally "broken" Bruce for 8 years. I doubt he felt that way in BB and TDK.

If you take his dialogue at face value, he never wanted Bruce to return. I don't remember if the scripts paint Alfred as a pathological lyer the way Bruce is a narcissistic psychopath but could be.

Heh, I now see that today is apparently "Batman Day" so I guess this was an appropriate time to revisit TDK. Is there an official "Not Batman Day" so that I can mark my calendar to watch TDKR? :monkey3

Well Alfred did break his one rule about never giving up on Bruce so maybe he was indeed just another pathological liar.

I did think it was pretty shocking to hear that one cop say "have a nice trip, see you next fall" to that one mobster he was arresting. Seriously Goyer if your zingers sound like they'd be something Pee Wee Herman would say just don't put them in movies about hard boiled cops and detectives.

At least "No, but I know how you got THESE" was a great comeback as opposed to what he said to Bane when they faced off on the steps at the end of TDKR.

You could tell he was faking it at the funeral :lol

Goyer is all about the one liners. Begins had some bad ones too, "I got to get me one of those!!!" as Batman literally drives away running over and destroying a cop car and probably killing the cop inside :monkey4

Is that what he says? He's hard enough to understand when he hasn't just taken a beating with a crowbar and is being strangled. :lol

Apparently that was an ad lib by Bale too. The original exchange penned by Goyer went:

"Do you know how I got these scars?"

"No, but with these forearm blades I shall now stop you."

It's weird. Bane's lines were so good and quotable, including the line that prompts arguably the most underwhelming comeback in the history of verbal sparring.

According to Alfred's dialogue in TDKR, he would have liked nothing more than to see Bruce leave Gotham forever.

As you and others have established, Alfred is full of lies.:lol

It's one I'd been meaning to revisit for a long time and finally got around to it. There's some good actors in the movie that I wasn't aware of when I was young. Aiello, Moriarty, and Sorvino. The only one I knew of as a child was Morris from SNL reruns.

Just saw Countess Dracula uncut a couple of years ago. That was an eye opener! There's another movie with twin sisters that I can't remember the name of but I enjoyed that alot too.

Oh gooood for him.

I think you're onto something here. They should have replaced most of Batman's dialogue in TDKR with Bale's rant at the technician on Terminator Salvation.

Bane - ''You came back to die with your city...''

Batman - ''I'm gonna ****in' kick your ****in' ass!!''

Yeah, Michael Moriarty was in so many TV shows back then. He was everywhere.

Those two are real twins, if you're describing the movie I'm thinking about. They were Playboy bunnies. :yess:
It's called Twins of Evil. Easy to remember that one.
Each twin was very generous in sharing their "twins" too. :lol

They just don't make horror movies like they use to anymore. :)
