THE FOURTH KIND. MILA JOVOVICH IN a ALien type reinactement documentary its a very interesting story if into ufo type storys worth a watch. i cant rate it but its done very well.

This one is pretty creepy, if the greys are your thing.
I like how the story is told with occasional clips of the real-life footage/documentary of the woman.

Yeah, it borrows a lot from Communion but it's a better movie than Communion itself.

Creepy as ****.

It could've been a good movie, if that interwoven footage of the woman being interviewed *wasn't* included, or at least done more convincingly. It just came across as fake & cheesy.

Wow there you go, you surprise me sometimes Gaspar. :lol

As far as I'm concerned, Communion is immediately far better for Chris Walken & his portrayal of Whitley Streiber alone - but aside from that, it's a hidden gem for various reasons. Sure, it has somewhat 'comical' elements that could be interpreted as such or completely differently depending on what you get out of it, but the whole idea of Streiber being perplexed with a situation that has him questioning his sanity, laced with the thought of it possibly being a very real ordeal at the same time - married with the setting & the pacing / imagery / themes in places, is far more frightening than a cheesy semi blockbuster type flick that relies on generic shocks / visuals, & that interviewee woman just ruins it completely for the cherry on top.

Mila was solid enough, I'll give you that. The correlation with the owl at the window & the uncertainty of people trying to make sense of it & other things to do with that was good too. The rest was disappointing - it's not scary or creepy at all, & although I've wanted to like it as a film.. ultimately it fails big time for me.

I think you're giving waaaay too much credit to the Communion movie, which Strieber himself doesn't like and the book is much better, but I haven't seen 4th kind in a while, so I'll take your word for it, but I do remember well and clear that it was an eye rolling chore to sit through Communion.

You're also giving way too much credit to Walken for the wrong reasons imo.

Besides, I think found footage/mockumentary fits the topic much better than real cinematography.

There was another movie you liked and I didn't, what was it? Fire in the Sky? Same thing for me.

Plus, the 4th kind mentions Sumerians, which automatically makes it better than Communion, for such a pivotal civilization, specially in these topics, they're very underutilized.

The Great Gatsby - 7/10

Good. Seemed to start slow and only had its nice visuals going for it but was glad I stuck with it.

edit- just saw it came out in 2013, thought it was more recent for some reason.

CA: Civil War- 8/10 Second...maybe third viewing. Anyway, the airport and the final battle are the best parts of the film. All the political talk gets a bit repetitive, but overall, CW is still the best MCU film, imo. The fight against Thanos should be fun to watch.

Magnificent Seven (2016) - 6/10. Man does Denzel look out of shape or what? And he was the one thing that spurred me to see this remake. Couldn't really care less about any of the characters. They could have all died for all I care.

Excalibur (1981) - 8.5/10. First time watching again after many years and liked it more than I can remember. Cool battle scenes which I thought were pretty hardcore metal to metal. Nice to see Gabriel Byrne, Helen Mirren, Patrick Stewart, and Liam Neeson in their younger years.

Let's agree to disagree then, but I can appreciate the point about Streiber not being on board.

I love Excalibur! A fine choice!

Clown - 6/10 More good than bad. Creepy at times. Worth seeing.

It's funny, because as many folks dislike it as those who don't from the ones I've talked to.. seems like a polarizing movie in some ways.

Be that as it may, the abduction scenes are chilling, very well done.

Haven't read the book since it originally came out, but this animated adaption..... Bats bangs Batgirl??, she gets shot, naked gordon on a leash and then it pretty much just ends. :dunno was just so flat.

Oh, I thought you had loved it with that shinning magnanimous score.

Do you just like Alien movies or do you like the whole paranormal/supernatural thing?

Man of Steel: 7/10
2nd viewing. It’s so close to being a good movie. It’s just that every once in a while, there’s a wtf moment that you just can’t understand why the filmmakers decided to go one way and not the other. So many odd and poor decisions. Obviously the worst is the tornado. Fighting in Smallville main street and all over Metropolis. Spending so much time fighting the big terraformer. Killing Zod in that specific circumstance (if he had the strength to snap Zod’s neck, he had the strength to move his head away from the people!). And watching MOS now after BvS, the Wayne building should have been evacuated way long before Supes and Zod ever show up because the Kryptonians had set up shop for a while at that point. In fact, the floors they’re fighting on are empty, implying that the building had indeed been evacuated. But then why in BvS is that other floor still full of people?

Anyway, the fighting climax which I had thought was interminable the first time I watched it in the theater didn’t seem as interminable this time. Overall I enjoyed the movie. I thought Cavill and Amy Adams were good. And the music was truly great.

There's always going to be little details like this that will get overlooked or even deliberately left in so that you can still have some material to make a movie. :)

Anyway, yes, I thought the acting from both were very good. They played their roles convincingly.

Regarding the score... it's got such a great vibe and tone. It fits the superhero very well. I love it.

It's clear in BvS that Wayne Employees may not evacuate until Bruce confirms the catastrophe in person and gives the order.

My biggest problem with the movie when I first saw it was all the destruction. Now having seen BvS, it now makes sense to me and I really really like both movies (extended in the case of BvS)
