Really really. You're average! And you even have Mel in your signature. *shakes head disapprovingly*

I'm not usually affected that much by movies that are trying to move me on an emotional level. Logan, Rogue One, and others that have come out recently did nothing for me on that level. But this movie really worked that way. The various supporting characters and arc of Doss were all very well done. Plus, the technical execution was superb. It's pretty dramatically different from Full Metal Jacket in terms of the themes and what you take away from the film, apart from the fact that war is hell of course.

Sam Worthington was surprisingly good and charismatic on screen.

That's the power of Mel.

Yeah, I thought he was good, and very believable in that role. Kind of funny that Brits were cast as (at least) three of the major characters in the film in Doss, Worthington's captain, and Doss's father (Hugo Weaving). But Mel has also done American accents in about 95% of his work.

Yeah I thought Hacksaw Ridge was pretty brilliant.

And what's amazing is that Mel held back on some of Doss' deeds because he didn't want audiences to tune out thinking that they were embellishing too much. Doss kicking away a live grenade actually happened but in reality he suffered 17 shrapnel wounds from the blast, temporarily lost the use of one arm and leg, treated himself for the shock, REFUSED evac by stretcher so that he could rescue even MORE guys and THEN recover his Bible. The dude was an off the charts badass.

When they were rolling the credits and showing some of the interview material that was weaved into the film, that did help to bolster the realism of the film as a whole to my eyes. Particularly when the guy played by Vince Vaughn was tearing up, talking about how wrong he was about the guy he tried to boot out of the army, only to have his life saved by that same guy.

Ghost in the Shell. 6/10

Good visuals and true to the original but common, they ruined it with the casting, when you get to the third act you will see why.

Ghost in the Shell (2017)- 6.5/10

Was aight. Visuals were the best part. Scarlet Johansson wasn't as bad as I thought she'd be.

Fantastic Beasts (and where to find them): 4.5 - 5/10

Just... eh. It was formularic, predictable, boring, and the spell effects weren't that great. I don't know how people thought this was the superior magic film of 2016... Farell was good, but considering the ending, well... None of the actor were "bad", it's just that... the film kinda, "dragged on" and was... boring. Yeah, I can't think of any other word. Just... boring.

Ghost in the Shell - 7/10

I really enjoyed this. Caught it in IMAX 3D, if you're even thinking of seeing this on a Large Format screen go quickly because there were only about a dozen people in my opening Saturday evening showing. This will be GONE very soon (unfortunately.)
