Watched The Day The Earth Stood Still last night
on cable tv.

Not the amazing 1951 original, but the remake from 2007 or so.

It is not good.

It was weird.

I kept expecting Keanu Reeves to say, "Whoa", "Bogus", or
"Excellent" throughout the movie.

Or play air guitar.

Gort being able to transform into some kind of colony of bugs that can eat
anything was.. weird.

The movie seemed like the love child of Starman and the original
film it's based upon, yet it lacked the charm and appeal of
both.

I wanted to watch it to see if my negative opinion of it
had changed any... no, it had not. ( I first saw it on tv in 2008 or so.)

LOGAN – Never saw any trailers, no idea what the story was about going in. Seeing everything for the first time and letting the movie tell me the story (not trailers or reviews prior)….

After initial viewing……1/10 Who are these impostors playing the Professor & Wolverine?? I don’t know them? When did they start swearing? When did it get so violent?? Boring story, Boring environments, boring villain (how many times have we seen bad guys like this),. Only character I found interesting (outside the girl) was the Albino and he didn’t do much at all.

I get it two guys at the end of their reign…now old. One has a disease of the brain one dying. But that’s not entertaining. This movie played out like a independent Fox Searchlight picture.

What was clear smack in the face for me was the success of DEADPOOL’s influence on LOGAN.

Anyway like I said after the initial viewing without any influence or expectations from Trailers or review…..1/10.

After watching I went on Youtube to listen to the review and I was shocked at what I was hearing ….BEST COMIC BOOK MOVIE EVER??? WTF!!!

I will place this next to MOONLIGHT as one of the most overrated movies I have watched

Curious if the addition of swearing and violence is what giving LOGAN great reviews? Cant be story!

Logan had it's moments. I liked it.
But it was terribly depressing.

I won't be buying the DVD when it's out. Is it available now?
I haven't been keeping track.

There are always movies like X-1, X-2: United We Stand,
and the more recent three new X-Men films to watch much
better representations of wolverine.

(Yes, I know Wolverine really only starred big time in Days of Future Passed,
but he did have a cameo role in #1 and #3.)

I really love Logan. It's a slick movie with a great cast, and an awesome send off to some very memorable characters. The slow character moments were needed for that type of flick. It felt like No Country but with mutants.

Great stuff.

Logan - 9/10 I guess people that didn't like it didn't want anything original and just wanted cookie cutter story a la Marvel :dunno

It wasn't original tho. Just different from the usual "cookie cutter story a la Marvel Studios".

Remove the swearing, remove the violence and it still feels like a movie we have all seen before. Three generations of family. The elderly who required aid, middle age unhappy with his life, and the child. I didn’t buy the “thanks for helping me with my horses, now you must come into my home for dinner and if its late sleep over”. I don’t care what kind of schedule you had prior. You must come to my home. Who does that?? Invite complete strangers to their home? That “helping horse” scene changed the entire tide of the movie.

You can say that about every movie.
