Meh, I thought this film was a little long, with a little less heart than most boxing flicks. Still a solid 7.5/10 though.

I can see the length complaint, but I like it a lot. Although, it takes liberties with certain things. Max Baer's family hated it since they say the portrayal was completely wrong.

Yes I've heard this too. I guess it's more of a "Cinderella" story than most thought. :lol

My favorite boxing movie is probably The Fighter, next after that would be Warrior, but it's an MMA movie.

Odd Thomas

It was panned by critics. It was a box office bomb.
I found it interesting enough to watch from start to finish.
Anton Yelchin was great, and I wish he had not died.
The ending was a surprise and it made me sad.
Good movie, but don't watch it expecting a happy ending.

Assassin's Creed: 3/10

Wow, was that bad. I feel sorry for Fassbender, Cotilard and Irons for being in such a bad movie. Earns minimal points for the well-choreographed fights. But wow, talk about no plot.

A Man Called Ove: 8/10

Very sweet Swedish comedy-drama movie about an old man trying to kill himself! My wife had read the book and didn't like it, but liked the movie because the book dwelled way too long on the suicide stuff, whereas the movie had to keep things moving quickly so had to gloss over most of it. Heart warming and touching.

Life - 8/10 Don't get the hate for this one. It's not high art but it kept me interested and thought it was overall good.
Passengers - 8/10 Don't get the hate for this one either. Enjoyed it.

S is for Stanley: 8/10

Really interesting documentary that does two things effectively: 1) provides a great exploration of the main character (Emilio), and his relationship with one of the greatest filmmakers we've ever known; and 2) gives us a glimpse into who Kubrick really was, warts and all. I was surprised at the humanity of Kubrick himself here, though I shouldn't have been--almost everyone has these traits in some fashion or another. But the way he cared for his animals, and the way that Emilio became so essential that Kubrick only started Eyes Wide Shut when he returned, and suspended filming while Emilio did a marathon. That was a really relatable human trait. Sadly, it seems as if Emilio was the only person around that Kubrick trusted, which speaks to what he must have gone through in other areas of his life.

TRANSFORMERS: The Last Knight - 4.5/10

It was fine. It had some good parts, like the robot butler, but it was hard to watch as a Transformers fan. :lol

I didn't like how Optimus was handled.

He's in the movie for roughly five minutes, and they don't really explain any of what's happening to him. He turns bad pretty much because the villain tells him to.

He turns good again by having a Martha moment. :lol
