Top gun maverick 10/10 (Well, probably 9 but I'm still hyped) - perfect sequel and companion to the original which pressed all my emotional and nostalgic buttons

Dr strange 2 - 5/10 - pretty standard marvel action, same old stuff except for the illuminati cameos which actually interested me

Venom Let There Be Carnage - 2/10
Yeah... So we got slapstick Eddie/Venom interactions, Woody Harrelson's Christopher Walken intonation and Tia Dalma's reprise in a huge CGI fest that kept me wondering how this was greenlit in the first place. The first part (while not really good either) is a lot more enjoyable.

Still can't believe this is almost 30yrs old. Total classic and the best of 'em all imo.

I just saw Rambo the first one and it’s so unintentionally funny. I found myself dying during the helicopter scene.

The Disaster Artist - 8/10
The scenes during the end credits are pretty awesome in the way they recreated them from the original film. Some of them are absolutely spot on. It's just an amazing story actually, about how The Room ever came to be.

Foxcatcher - 8/10
I recently saw a documentary on this subject which made me want to see the film again. Steve Carell is amazing in this. John Du Pont was a strange man and Carell does a great job in portraying him. Some of the mannerisms were almost like a dark version of Michael Scott, especially the way how he wants to be liked and wants to be one of the (wrestling) guys.

Dragonheart - 8/10
This is pure nostalgia for me. I loved this film when I was a kid and it inspired many a Lego adventure. The CGI of the dragon is dated, but it still holds up, because the dragon is the only thing that is CGI. All the firebreathing/explosions and other stunts are practical which works great to be honest. The score is magnificent as well! (Listening to it right now).

I wanted to like this more. It wasn't bad, it just didn't wow me as much as most Pixar films often do. It might be a 7/10 on a second watch when I know what to expect, but it won't be more than that.

Just went through all the JP / W trilogies.

JP: 10/10 - absolute perfection.
TLW: JP: 08/10 - so Spielby that it canno be bad. And in fact it is very good once you overlook very minor stuff that haters focus on.
JP 3: 5/10 - good old adventures plain and simple.
JW: 4,5/10 - interesting as a "what if", even if it's a sequel that takes the remake route. Flawed but fun.
JW: FK: 4/10 - stupid story but nice style, sometimes.
JW: D: 2,5/10 - very stupid story, with no style whatsoever.

Otherwise:

Mia et le Migou: 4/10. Sweet but weak.

Anastasia: 7/10. Good Bluth vibes.

Dune by DV: 4/10. Beautiful abstract monochromes save a boring movie with bored actors.

Wonder Wheel: 5,5/10. Storaro seems lost in digital land, it brings an interesting oddness. Average Woody Allen, fascinating Kate Winslet.

Rampage: 4/10. Talk about stupid but funny stuff. Not too cynically funny, which is a plus.

Taza, Son of Cochise: 6/10. It seems that Sirk had a blast doing a western, that doesn't quite jump to the screen. Quality cinema nevertheless.

Yokai Monsters, Spook Warfare (1968): 6/10. The next level in japanese ghost madness. haven't seen the Miike remake yet.

Aparajito: 8,5/10. Devastating in a modest way. A sense of pacing and framing artfully unspectacular but deeply touching.

Moana: 6,5/10. Nice surprise for a Disney big business affair. Catchy songs help a lot.

L'amour en fuite: 7/10. Truffaut's last Doinel, not the more thought off. But an important movie.

Fitzcarraldo: 8,5/10. Very very impressive. Have not been that moved by it nevertheless. Herzog can be cold.

Just finished watching The Bear on Hulu. Following his older brother's suicide, a talented young chef takes over the family's struggling restaurant, juggling debt and a staff that doesn't trust him. Really impressed with how natural the writing is. Highly recommend, especially to anyone who liked Lip's vibe in the good seasons of Shameless (same actor).

Episode 7 is fantastic. Kitchen chaos and family drama all done in one long take (or made to look that way), yet written and shot in such a natural way that I didn't even realize until halfway through.

Great dramedy with a surprisingly artsy touch. Can't imagine how they'd continue the show with the same flavor, given the ending of this first season, but I sure hope they try.

Lord of the Rings day on Sky Movies

FOTR 10/10 - Absolute perfection. Easily my favourite of them all. I love Hobbits and PJ portrayed them perfectly, imo.

TTT 7/10 - My least favourite of the 3 but still an ok watch. I don't know what it is about this one i just find it a little harder to get into. Though i know i dont like Eomer or Grima, they just bug me

ROTK 9/10 - Great viewing. Samwise being the hero he is. Dead army, big spider, all great
