Spartacus: Blood and Sand - 9.5/10
An amazing show! Absolutely brilliant IMO! :rock :rock :rock

The IT Crowd S3 - 8/10
It had a couple of good eps, but overall it was slightly less funny than the previous seasons.

1941 - 6/10 - Good comedy, but it would have benefitted from just a little more John Belushi.

Re: Rate The Last Movie You Watched.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 2 - 9
Love this movie. Great ending for the saga.

Tucker & Dale vs. Evil - 8/10

An awesome horror parody, with some pretty funny parts.

Gladiator (on Blu-ray, finally) - 10/10

The scene where Maximus reveals himself to Commodus in the arena is still one of my absolute favorites. Cinematic perfection.

Yup! Tucker and Dale 8/10.

I expected this to be utter crap and I was wrong. This film was really funny.

Girl With the Dragon Tattoo 10/10. Wow seriously one of my favorite movies in a very long time! Fincher does it again.

Cars 2: 4/10

Truly breaks my heart to see Pixar come out with such an inferior movie. I've loved every single Pixar movie since Toy Story 1 came out, and made sure I watched every single one in the theater. Sometimes it was the only movie I watched that whole year in the theater.

But I did skip it this year based on all the terrible reviews it got. I still held out a little hope, though, even though the first Cars was probably the lowest ranked Pixar movie for me. I got the Blu Ray for Christmas, so my wife and I sat down to watch it and we were both so surprised at how bad it was.

Yes, the art direction and design were top notch. The settings, backgrounds, car designs, etc., were all beautiful and up to the usual Pixar quality. But the story and acting were really quite bad. You can tell the performances were skewed to a younger audience. All the actors (except maybe Mater) spoke in a gentler, but exaggerated, "kid" voice, the kind of voice acting you would use when reading a bedtime story to your toddler. Which was particularly weird since they also had all those scenes of cars getting beat up and even killed! But the story and action sequences showed none of Pixar's usual wit and clever insight and certainly no heart.

The movie left such a bad taste in my mouth that even the Toy Story short (that I watched afterwards) didn't seem all that good.

So sad and disappointing. I really hope this isn't an indication of what Pixar will be in the future and that it's just a bad anomaly. But it's a bad sign that they're going to do "Planes" in 2013.
