Seriously? But it's a bad sign that they're going to do "Planes" in 2013.
Seriously?
I guess all companies give in to the vagaries of mass public commercial interests eventually. A real shame because, like you, I've been a long time Pixar fan since seeing Toy Story I in the theater, and felt that they were special movies with some integrity, even despite misses like (IMO) Monsters, Inc. and Cars. Oh, well.

Such a shame. But I think Galactiboy is right--they do these to rake in the dough. But even the first Cars was not nearly as bad as the second one. I always felt that Pixar had the rare talent to create movies that appealed to both the young and old. But with Cars 2 it looks like they gave up and just aimed it to kids. And it looks like Planes might be the same.
Brave looks good, though.
Sucker Punch: 7/10
Not as bad as I thought it would be. The action sequences were incredible, as was the whole look and feel. But yeah,
the multi layers of reality were excessive. Did we really need 3 planes of reality to tell the story? And I also thought it was comical how the action sequences would cut from when Baby Doll would start dancing, so we never see her dancing. It was a little silly. I will say that I thought the ending was pretty effective, with the villain turning out to be just an orderly (Was that established in the beginning? I didn't get that. I thought he was another doctor or a manager.), Sweet Pea escaping, and Baby Doll's lobotomy. That made up for a lot, IMO.
And HT should really have made Sweet Pea. She seems more like the number 2 of the movie. Or even Rocket. But Amber is kind of an odd choice since she seemed fairly low on the list of characters.
The Lost World: Jurassic Park: 7/10
Definitely my least favourite of the JP films. A lot of characters are annoying IMO. Only Ian Malcolm, Roland Tembo, Nick van Owen and Eddie Carr are pretty good characters, the rest not so much. Worst is the kid. The dinosaurs aren't nearly as cool either than in the first one.
Don't get me wrong, I don't think the film is bad, but compared to the first it's definitely the lesser.
