I personally really liked the film. I don't know how it was pretentious. I can see how maybe the filmmaker was, but the film just seemed avant garde and picturesque, which was very beautifully shot.


In which case brings me to another Von Trier film...


Melancholia 7/10

Sure it might seem slow or boring but I found it very picturesque again and interesting nonetheless and it is technically sci-fi too.

Balada Triste De Trompeta - 7/10
Spanish film about two clowns battling for the love of a female acrobat in a circus. A pretty weird watch... interesting though.

That sounds really interesting, I'll have to check it out.

I think the English (American) title is The Last Circus.
It's kind of a weird watch... there is humor, drama and sadness, but also a lot of over the top action and some horrorstuff. It was only while watching it that I figured the whole film is supposed to be as versatile and crazy like a clown's act.

Good movie. Hadn't seen it in years!

That almost kind of reminds me of the Hungarian film, Taxidermia. Black comedy with some horror/gore elements and such.

What a great film! Quite possibly the best digital animation film I've ever seen (in terms of animation that is. So much beatiful details )!
I loved it! Great humor, but also a classic western story and some top notch action!

I loved how it ended!


Tower Heist 7/10

Surprisingly very entertaining despite the fact it was riddled with plot holes. The pacing made it work without letting you think too much on it.

Wasn't my first viewing, but it never fails to impress. Great visuals, awesome soundtrack, the works. Probably the sexiest-looking movie out there.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid 2 - 9/10

my nephews wanted to watch it, all i knew about it was a clip on tv a while back, but damn was it fun, it was just clever and a fun film to watch, really enjoyed it
