It's still a mystery Oldman hasn't won an Oscar yet.

TinTin 6.5/10

Eh. I thought it skewed a little too much towards the childish side. And this is my first full length motion capture animated movie, so I hadn't really experience it before. I'm not quite convinced it works. The whole movie felt like it was wavering between being a full-on cartoon and a regular live action movie. Some of the movements in particular bothered me because they were such broad, slapstick type of action, but still fully human and grounded in reality, which looked terribly dumb and silly and maybe a little bit restricted to the laws of physics. If it had been full on animation, the movements would have been more fluid, probably more exaggerated, and ironically enough, more realistic and natural. Certain "bits" felt very staged and choreographed and contrived in their movements. I really think the motion capture is holding things back. And it was a little creepy to see some of the caricaturized faces on characters that moved so human like. It was like the Warren Beatty ____ Tracy movie with the prosthetic faces. I think Pixar has done a much better job in rendering real people like in the Incredibles and Ratatouille.

But overall it was okay I guess. It didn't totally grab me, story-wise or character-wise, but I can see it was well done. I think my expectations were raised a bit when I read many people saying that this is what the last Indy movie should have been like. But nah.

I did like the opening credits done in that flat animation style. I wish someone would have the guts to release another old-fashioned animation feature where everything was rendered flat and graphic, not 3 dimensionally. It can probably still be computer generated, but just done in a flat style.

Tay your image isn't working :(

Dude i've got one better, how about his performance in True Romance?

I need to watch that film again to appreciate it more. I watched it so long ago I can hardly remember it or the performances.

All I remember from that is Slater saying he would f__k the king :lol

Seriously though, better than Stansfield?

Re: Rate The Last Movie You Watched.

True Romance is amazing, I enjoy the movie far more then Leon, but Oldman's performance as Stansfield is not touchable. He's pretty much a cameo in TR by comparison though.

Nope. His role as Stansfield was much better but also hard to compare. He was just another person entirely as Drexl.

Re: Rate The Last Movie You Watched.

I'd say Stansfield was his best performance overall if I had to pick one. His performances are so diverse it's very hard to compare and pick one. Roy , the image should be working now. :lol
