Re: New Doom PF?

I asked CS about the magnets and they said t wasn't a reported issue on the PF and said they had a great return policy , so I went ahead and just paid for it and will be just hopeful on a proper model lol

I have the EX Doom. I can honestly say that I LOVE this sculpt. Some people here thought he was a bit too skinny. I think he looks just like a classic John Byrne drawn Doom. Byrne never drew a hulking sized Doom and this sculpt looks spot on to the Doom stories I read as a kid in Byrne's FF run. I also really like Ray Villafane's work. He's a very talented sculptor who did an amazing job on this PF IMO. Just make sure you spend time futzing with the cape and hood on this piece. The cape and hood have to be shaped to your liking for this piece to look good. Hopefully your Doom arrives with no QC issues. Enjoy the statue.

Thanks! I also love the sculpt as well and while I'm sure I won't enjoy futzing it's nice you can do so much with it at the same time. I'm just scared ****less of weak magnets and having it break because of that.

I'm glad you are enjoying yours. Thank you for your input !!!

No problem. If your magnets are a bit weak, just pick up some of those thin sized magnets that we talked about earlier in the thread. I have used one on his neck and one on his forearm and haven't looked back. Those are some tiny but powerful magnets and they easily did the trick for me. I haven't thought twice about the Doom PF since I put them on. Now I just enjoy seeing him displayed on my shelf. If all goes right for you though, you won't even have to worry about it.

Does this not put the weaker magnets implanted in the statue at risk to be ripped out of the statue if I need to box it to move or store ?

No, the magnets stay on the male side of the neck and forearm magnets (the magnets that stick out, not the socket it plugs into). You can easily take the magnets off if you want to box him up or put him in storage.

Don't worry about that, just be patient and play around with it and something nice will come. I fiddled with mine for a long amount of time before I got something I was happy with.

That is looking amazing, one of the best hood set ups I've seen. Thanks for sharing !

I also am curious if you have the extra magnets on yours or if it came feeling solid enough as is. And if not to both , did you mold his hood and cape without the arm and head in then?

Thanks! :duff I did use the magnets to keep them "more" secure, but it didn't seem like a huge issue for me. The arm may have been wobbly but it wouldn't fall out if that was a concern. I guess some people were afraid they might knock it off if bumping into it but I was able to get the magnets for cheap so I picked it up just in case.

I put the cape on the statue first, with the head and arm attached. I found the angle that I liked the most and began futzing the cape from that angle so that it would look nice in the way I would display him, which is turned slightly right so that his gun is facing forward and he is staring downward. Took a while, no doubt, but I just kept playing around with it until I was happy. Wanted to give him a regal feel.
