Re: New Doom PF?

Yeah I'm at the point I think buying used on Ebay might be your best bet if you don't want to lose money on the statues you buy... With a few Exceptions I can't seem to give away my recent SS statues...

SS is just killing the secondary market with their High Edition Sizes.... With some of these DC pieces I'm thinking I'm going to have to sell them at about 50% off if I want to move them....

I might just pack them up and store them for 3-4 years, hopefully by then SS will have sold off all their DC Statues I'm trying to sell and I might actually be able to break even :) It's defiantly a buyers market for used SS Statues...

If I remember correctly, they messed up the ES on this PF from the get go. They did the same with the modern Thor PF. SSC overestimated the demand for both pieces. I believe that they lowered the ES on Thor and announced that they would do the same for Doom. They did it on Thor but I think on Doom they said someone forgot to notify the factory to cut the amount being produced so the factory ran the full amount. Obviously, SSC got stuck with all of them and now have to sell them off. That's why there are so damn many of the EX Doom PFs if memory serves me correctly.

Re: New Doom PF?

I made almost $15,000 in profit on my pieces I sold in my first 7 years of colleting now I lose at least $100.00 on each piece. I was offered $150.00 for my Storm Shadow statue would have cost me $20.00 in fees and at least $30.00 to ship a piece that size no matter how short the distance. shipped 2 lb palisades statue and that cost $15.00 to ship, this is now normal for this market. Not sure this can keep going statue cost go up, shipping goes up and resale values go down. Use love buying a piece and then resell to buy another piece now forget that.

Yea, almost two years ago I sold off my entire Bowen collection, (50ish statues) for a downpayment on a house and after shipping and fees netted nearly 40% profit on what I had spent.
In the last several months trying to move some Sideshow stuff and I'm losing at least $100 each, except for the Galactus statue, after fees I broke even.

Re: New Doom PF?

Can these damage the statue at all ?

I'm surprised they hold as well as they do, but apparently they work well. I think size minimizes any damage.

No, they won't damage your statue. These magnets are tiny and very strong. I'm using 2 on my Doom PF for the last few months and haven't had any issues at all.

Stupid question: But how do you 'replace' the magnets already on the statue or how do you adapt them to the statue?

Re: New Doom PF?

But I would think it wouldn't allow for the arms to sit flush against the torso, no?

Absolutely spot on

Re: New Doom PF?

That's why I've never been one to use these as investments.

There's too much costs with eBay, Paypal, and shipping.

I've been under the assumption you just place it between the two connectors like a washer. I'm quite possibly wrong tho lol
Correct. These magnets are really tiny and thin. I have one on the neck to support the portrait(s) and one on his EX pistol hand. There isn't a noticeable gap because the armor on his forearm socket is pretty deep and his neck is covered by his hood. It all looks good with no noticeable gaps.

Again, I'm no physics guy, but wouldn't the system only be as strong as the weakest magnet?

I think the space between the magnets on my Doom may be a smidge too far apart. All I know is when I used the small magnets the fit was nice and tight. I have no worries about his head or gun arm falling off now.

That's all that matters. :rock

Re: New Doom PF?

Whut up with these magnet? Mr. Green didn't have problems with his.

The magnets for the arms weren't strong enough in some of these pieces and collectors reinforced the arms to prevent damage - which has been reported.
