Yeah I'm a fan too. Like this modern armor over the classic. swap out portrait would have been my pic . I like my Thor with a beard
It's a fantastic looking statue. I also think it'll sell out eventually. I normally like classic costumes for my characters but the modern costume looks so kick ass on Thor. It also lends itself to mixed media much better than the original one does IMO. I LOVE fully sculpted pieces but I can honestly say this piece just may be THE BEST use of mixed media on a piece I have ever seen. I'm awed every time I look at the piece. I wouldn't want anything different on the piece. Not even the left hand. Well...I guess if I'm going to be honest, SSC could have come up with a better EX feature for the piece. Obviously it's pretty lame.However, I can say that I LOVE everything else about the piece.

Not too sure on this one. Went from an absolute must have to a maybe. Hate the toilet base and awkward fist pump.
I think the reason this is getting this reception though, is it's clearly not as good as the other two Dooms SS has/is making, it's only selling point is that it is cheaper. Hard to get too excited over that scenario.

I have to agree with this. It feels like the cheaper consolation price to those that can't spend the 2K on the PF or have the space for the LSF.

Agreed. Comparing the LSF like many others have stated doesn't make sense. When compared to the original, the original makes this look bad. We get the typical boring 1 up 1 down pose from SSC and a very plain looking Doom. Yawn.

I don't know that it's about comparing them exactly - the $2k piece is bound to be far superior. It's just that I'd hoped the PF would impress on its own terms as a 1/4 scale piece in the way that the 1/2 scale impresses as an LSF. And to me it just doesn't do that.

Everything else, Ok Ex isn't the best, looks pretty good.

It's not supposed to be anything specifically.
In art terminology it is a non-representational (abstract) platform done in a retro, silver-bronze age, sci-fi (Kirby) style.
Unlike the LSF where it looks like he's delivering Shakespere's Shylock dialogue to an angry mob , this isn't an environmental base meant to suggest any kind of scene. It's a museum pose.
Even though the pose is a cliche (and how much of SS's design output isn't at this point?), I think the closed fists speak "Doom!" much more than the LSF's open, supinated palms.
Not saying this thing is perfect, but if I were going to get hung up on something, it would be how cheap and tacky the fabric looks at this scale. The graceless, wrinkled, doll's clothes look of the cape drags this down a whole lot more than the simple Kirby-esque base. If you can't even get the cape to look good in a highly controlled professional product photo, what hope does the average buyer have?
