Real Steel starring Hugh Jackman

Based on Richard Matheson’s short story Steel, the movie is set in 2020 where boxing matches between humans have been outlawed and the sport is now a spectacle between hand-built robotic fighters.

There was a Lee Marvin Twilight Zone version made in 1963 called Steel, but I am sure this will look a feel a lot different

I read the original short story a few months back, from the look of the promo pic, I'm guessing that this movie is going to be nothing like it.
Here's a clip from the original Lee Marvin flick, which looks a hell of a lot closer to the Matheson story...

I'm a big a Lee Marvin fan, so I always loved that Twilight Zone episode. Curious to see how this film will turn out. Interestingly, just yesterday I was reading a review of the Stuart Gordon film Robot Jox, which may sorta kinda be a little bit similar in a way.

The first thing I thought of after I read the synopsis in the first post was "Hey, this sounds sorta like Robot Jox, one of my favorite sci-fi movies ever!"

Looking forward to this one.

Man, Robot Jox was so cool and so cheesy. I need to watch it again sometime. The stop motion effects were incredible for the time.

Sounds a bit daft to me this and that photo reminds me of Spy Kids for some reason.
It's way to early to tell though.

Always one of my favorite Twilight Zone episodes. Seems like they maybe putting someone in the suit Iron Man Style but probably to early to tell.

Only problem is, it doesn't look like a robot a guy could design in his basement, even in the future. That is kind of a bummer, but I guess they want to sell fancy-light up toys.

I can imagine it as a twilight zone episode and being great ( I haven't seen it ) but I just can't see this being a big blockbuster.

I loved this movie when I was a kid.

Only problem is, it doesn't look like a robot a guy could design in his basement, even in the future. That is kind of a bummer, but I guess they want to sell fancy-light up toys.

They should have set the movie further in the future...ten years is a bit too close. That being said, in 1950 had a movie come out about a guy building a computer for personal use in his basement during his spare time people would have laughed and said "thats not possible...even in the future"
