Just saw Real Steel. Loved it. :rock

A feel-good movie. Rocky with metal gloves. Definitely check it out.

I took two 10 year old boys to it yesterday, and they loved it. I enjoyed it as well - a nice father/son story, but it is pretty predictable. And it has nothing (outside of boxing robots) to do with the Richard Matheson story it's "partly based" on. The kid is a reasonably decent actor too, which was a pleasant surprise.

I saw this last night and really enjoyed it. It did remind me of Rocky a fair bit :) The kid was actually a nice character, I didn't mind him at all and it was a sweet father/son story. It was certainly predictable, but I really didn't mind. Great CGI too, the robots were very realistic looking.

One of the best movies i have seen in a long time..normally i can work out whats going to happen before it does, not this time!

Good acting and script, the only Rocky feeling i got was from the final david vs goliath final fight scene but why should Rocky have dibs on a big fight scene?

10/10

Sometimes it's also about what you DON'T do, and there were several pitfalls they avoided that would have hurt the movie for me...for example:

they didn't go anywhere with the 'ATOM is actually sentient' angle. Sure, they showed a couple scenes hinting at the potential, but never actually made him more than a machine. That left the focus on the father and son. They also didn't go with the old standby "father gets money for son, but son doesn't know, and then when son finds out he's betrayed" route, which I though for sure they were going to do. But instead the kid knows right from the start, and I liked how that played out much better.

I just got back from this and I thoroughly enjoyed it!!One of very few highlights of the year for me.

Watched this tonight and what a great film it is!

Really wasn't expecting it to be anywhere near as good as I thought it was.

I am a little disappointed I didn't go to see this in the summer at the cinema.

Does anybody know if this is just a directors toy or something they are looking to release?

They have toys out, but only in 5" or 8" figures. Though it might be the 8", I'm doubting it.

there's a thread up for it too. here

Thought it was decent. Pretty much was Over The Top Rocky.

It was cheesy and predictable granted but I loved it.

I am going all out CelticPredator fiercely defending Predators stylee on this one :lol

I thought the CGI was excellent and the score.

I admit to watching this twice on the Saturday and Sunday :)
