alright so i've finally decided to actually bite the bullet and get back into the game. sooo with that in mind can you guys give me a recommended reading list of TPB to get. i just finished reading Marvel 1602 and will be starting Planet Hulk next week. I'm interested in reading Batman: Hush, and Batman: The Long Halloween.

other than that what else is out there in TPB form that i should pick up????

Batman: The Killing Joke was interesting but I wish it were twice as long.

Marvel Zombies and Marvel Zombies vs Army of Darkness TPBs are both worth the read.

IMHO mandatory comic reading includes:

Watchmen
300
The Dark Knight Returns
Hulk: The End
V for Vendetta
From Hell
The Dark Phoenix Saga
The whole Mutant Massacre x-over
New X-Men
Walking Dead

The Clone Wars comics are good. And I enjoyed the recent Star Wars: Legacy TPB that just came out. It's set 100 years after ROTJ I think.

Everything above is good....might add Miracleman(Moore run), Sandman, Swamp Thing(Moore run again), Preacher, Marshall Law, League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, Top Ten, Invincible, Cerebus, Bone, Marvels, Midnight Nation, Fell, The Infinity Gauntlet, Kingdom Come...and many, many, many more.

Batman: Hush and The Long Halloween are probably the two best Batman stories ever. As for Marvel stuff, everything mentioned above is good. Civil War, Zombies, Astonishing X-Men, New Avengers, JMS's Spider-Man, Bendis's Daredevil are all Marvel must reads in my opinion.

thats what everyone keeps telling me. im gonna try to get something new every couple of weeks. im gonna get started on planet hulk this weekend and my next paycheck im gonna pick up batman the long halloween in hardcover form. my local shop is cool enough to give 25% discount on all TPBs in the store.

Depending on your tastes:

DC Vertigo line must reads:
Fables - the first trade is a little hokey, but this series gets so good, gets better and better with each trade
Preacher - Very crude and if religion is a sensitive topic for you skip it, but one of the best books ever

Marvel:
Grant Morrison's New X-Men run
followed by Astonishing X-Men by Joss Whedon
Daredevil - Entire Bendis run was excellent
Punisher - Garth Ennis (the best the punisher has ever been written)

DC:
Identity Crisis - (not infinity crisis) Really well put together by Brad Metzler
Green Lantern Rebirth - Hal Jordan returns, beautiful art and great representation of each lantern

Independent:
Invincible - really good superhero stuff, I have gotten many friends addicted to this book
Walking Dead - yes, it is that good

Read Fables, Planetary, Powers, Y the Last Man, Kingdom Come, Nextwave, Marvels, Punisher (MAX series) and 100 Bullets.

The only monthlies I still get are Astonishing Xmen, the 4 Star Wars comics, Savage Dragon, Flash and, for now, the World War Hulk mini. The way the comics market is nowadays, most stories are padded for trade release.

What are the four Star Wars comics? I'm guessing one of them is Legacy...

Along with what everyone else is saying, I would suggest the Marvel Civil War books.
Also for some of the old stuff, you should get The Thanos Quest, and The Infinity Guantlet.

I have actually found myself in the same place, I have been reading World War Hulk and Spider-man One More Day; the latter I am finding to be more enjoyable --- even one issue in (though it stems from the Back in Black series).

I recently read Hush, and yes it IS good! Now it's on to Alex Ross' Justice series --- in hardcover, baby! :rock

Note that Books-a-Million also offers 20% off on all TPB everyday. They usually have a decent selection of the current releases too.

cool thanks, but i doubt they'll have a bigger selection than the comic shop. i was incredibly surprised with what he had in stock.does anyone here know anything about the digital comics??? i downloaded a program and got my hands on batman the longest halloween, but dont know where to get any other books for it.
~~ and what is arkham asylum about??? i've heard about it, but have no freaking clue.
