I was wondering, did you buy the Conan piece yourself or are you basing your comments on pictures? I own the Conan piece and I too thought the skin tone looked 'odd'. However, I took the plunge given how a picture can be very misleading and was rewarded with a very well painted and above standard skin tone. Bases on PF's are usually hollow so no problem there for me (had most of the LOTR line and they all had hollow bases). I think you are referring to some of the base attachments such as the steps etc on Conan? If so then I don't see a problem as the base holding the statue is plenty strong (the poly is a lot thicker) and the attachments such as bricks/ steps don't need to be made thick as they are not their to support anything.
The first Red Sonja definitely had painting issues and as much as I loved the piece in itself (sculpt, pose) I couldn't get passed the fact that it was very, very dependant on correct lighting to compensate for the paint job of the head and body which definitely seem to have been painted at two different stations hence a tone variation!
This piece looks astonishing and I believe SS has truly upped their game and recent additions (in hand ) have proved it for me.Can't wait to go for this one after having to cut the first version loose.
I canceled mine after I saw the pictures and in hand doesn't look any diffent. I these don't get why someone would get mad at me because I don't like the spray tan skin tone. There are pieces I own that I love and will never sell that sells for under retail and if someone said to me well I don't like it I don't troll them like a 12 year old kid. Coverall I saw the new RED SONJA piece and there is WAY to much going on with that piece. There are a number of things that can/will go wrong. If the piece comes out as show I would be as happy as everyone one else. Because at the end of it I would have a Nice piece at the house. But there are ALOUT of things that can go wrong and with sideshows cost cutting and saving here and there I do think maybe this may be the piece that gets alout of people pissed and sick of there ****. Like doesn't anyone knows any other BIG collectible company that bean around for over 20 years ( what means they should know that they are doing) that has on very thing THEY SELL prototype shown. There think make a nice prototype to get them in then cut the manufacturing cost by 30% lets say. Then when it's oh it comes out next mouth look at the piece and it looks VERY diffent but some/most people really what it so they still get it then people go on and ON saying THIS IS THE BEST PIECE EVER MADE NJ SHORE SKIN TONE AND ALL like someone on here and those people say yeah doesn't look that bad then sideshow sells out and they made there money.
