Wish I had taken the time to airbush everything as the metallic paints are not very forgiving when Hiding brush strokes.
Heres mine so far, need to clear some more black wash off and tidy the face a bit but so far not looking too shabby. Hope the little bits of cleaning up at the end helps make it pop a bit more :eek:s

Just water down the paint a bit, if you don't want brush strokes. I'm no expert but if you just use straight paint, it's too thick. Add a little water to thin it out and you won't have brush strokes. It will require more coats though. I'm painting my 3rd HB right now. I have a red and a silver cup of paint with 4 brushes, and I just keep going in circles painting the same pieces over and over again with about 10-15 minutes in between coats. It takes patience but it does look better in the end.

I have an airbrush but I've never used it. I'm not a huge fan of taping things off, it never seems to work for me (especially with brush painting, the paint always seeps under the tape and it looks like crap). But to each his own. :)

Thanks cofphoto I will take that on board for the second one. This has been a great learning curve though and hopefully will be able to get a better one second time around. Still looks ok though. Anyone got a tip for extracting spray paint out of the can for minor touch ups?

To all the airbrush people – what kind of metallic paints are you using? This is my first attempt at airbrushing and not sure what to buy.

Buy some thinners and use tamiya gold and silver paints. I used gold and titanium silver. Thin it til it's like a milk consistency.
