Re: Resident Evil 2 (Remake officially confirmed) WE DO IT!

I'd be down! :lecture

RE4 can be whatever, it's a side story anyway. I love RE5 but it needs a rewrite. As soon as you find Jill, Sheva should meet up with Josh and have her own little adventure with him while Jill and Chris go fight Wesker. RE6 can poof back into the ether :lol

RE4 is fine as being part of it since Leon needs a second adventure like the other protagonists, it ain't fair! Everything after that, get out. And Sheva should have gone back to Josh, kind of disgraceful she played no part in Wesker's death, it isn't Sheva's fight. I dunno, I get that Jill is probably not in good shape due to the mind control crap but still.

RE4 is fine, but it was the beginning of the end. I still remember my girl watching me play RE5 and she's like "don't you think it's wrong that Sheva gets to kill Wesker and not Jill?"

Re: Resident Evil 2 (Remake officially confirmed) WE DO IT!

RE4.. hmm. Seems the jury gives it the thumbs up, but I don't know.

The whole 'over the shoulder' thing, I reckon I'd get sick of that pretty fast, I hesitate to say.. :(

Re: Resident Evil 2 (Remake officially confirmed) WE DO IT!

RE4 was an attempt to bring in a new audience, but that audience ended up bringing the downfall of the series. RE4 has a good combination of action and horror. It was the first of the series where I felt under pressure from being surrounded by so many enemies and didn't know what to do.

But then, RE5 came along and gave the zombies guns... then we got a T-Rex and Ant monsters...

WTF? :lol

Yeah.. the first three games are more action adventure / puzzle solving / survival games first, & shooters second IMO.

Although I was gearing up to give it a chance, RE4 looks like the makings of a FPS.. & I can't ****ing stand those games. :lol

Especially since some of the enemies were dangerous in their own rights, for different reasons. Salvador man....

Then RE6 came and well, that's history

:thud:

RE4 is a third person game so you clearly have different things to worry about.

Re: Resident Evil 2 (Remake officially confirmed) WE DO IT!

i loved RE4. At the time it was exactly what the series needed because the gameplay mechanics of the first three RE games was beginning to get a bit stale. A new direction was needed, unfortunately they went too far with the whole shooter/action mode and turned RE into call of duty with zombies.

Re: Resident Evil 2 (Remake officially confirmed) WE DO IT!

Third person games and first person games are pretty different :lol
Jeez man.. :lol

I know that, I'm just making an observation. The over the shoulder thing is only a couple steps away from being there, that's all I meant.

Re: Resident Evil 2 (Remake officially confirmed) WE DO IT!

I thought the joke was funnier when it was just " door is locked from the other side " because its something so simple. A door thats never been locked in 18 years or whatever is suddenly locked in the Remake. That would cause real distress.

Re: Resident Evil 2 (Remake officially confirmed) WE DO IT!

If they pull that 'broken doorknob' and 'canister' crap I'm gonna hate them :lol

Re: Resident Evil 2 (Remake officially confirmed) WE DO IT!

RE4 was awful. There was no horror. It was a 3rd person shooter. The story was awful with Plagas, it went from a hyper reality and down to earth where you played as ordinary people in extraordinary circumstances to playing as a superhero with an emo fringe who jumps out of windows and lands in a pose every time.

Enemies dissolved and left you money or bullets, they were slower and more stupid than zombies. Boss designs were boring and started off the whole 'shoot the glowing orange bit'.

I had more ammunition when I reached El gigante than I did when I got to the dead factory in RE3. There was insane amounts of ammunition and health. There was no tension because of that.

Regenerators/iron maidens were tense for 10 seconds. from then on you could use a mere pistol and shoot left leg, waist then right shoulder and thats it. Oh throw in a 4th one on the back.

I heavily disliked it when it came out in 2005. It was a brilliant 3rd person shooter, did alot of great thing. It was not a Resident Evil, they shouldnt have *******ised Leons character and its memorable to me purely because Leon fought alongside Batman (Luis Sera was voiced by Rino Romano. He was Batman)

... But in all of the earlier Resident Evil's they did crazy **** time to time too. Infact I can remember steve jumping and flipping through a window from an even greater height, landing and shooting a bandersnatch while not even looking at it then finishing it off with a Kick. Nicolai constantly jumping out of windows from explosions, and one of them from the 3rd floor of a hospital? I agree the tone felt more intense but they still got away with some crazy unrealistic ****. It just seems more in your face in 4 because it was a gameplay mechanic not a story reason.

You have a problem with the enemies dissolving? Well thats pretty... stupid. The game had huge open areas where new enemies needed to despawn so new enemies could respawn. Thats progress in technology. Otherwise youd be playing a 3rd person shooter where you need to wait for 5 seconds every time you want to go in to a new room so it can load new enemies and scenery. And its realistic that the enemies dropped bullets and cash. They were towns folk. It was more realistic than in the previous resident evil games that they didnt drop anything. That it was only the pre-set corpse that youd find laying down that would give you ammo. You go through the entire station in RPD and kill all the cops and get nothing other than the 2 corpses already there.

Enemies were slower and more stupid? The ganados who can form groups, and enter a house via a window, door and ladder at the same time? Throw molatov cocktails, shoot crossbows and operate machinery. They can run and hurl their weapons at you. Were you playing this on easy?

I agree some of the boss designs sucked, but i have no idea where you think the trend of shooting the glowing orange bit came from. Maybe the final boss because his eye happened to be orange?

As for the amount of ammo you have after fighting Elgigante, and how you explained fighting the Regenerators it sounds like you are playing the game on easy, and its one of your new game +'s. If you know pro tips against enemies then of course they will be trivial.

I really get confused when people **** over every aspect of a game and then praise it at the end saying it did many great things when the enemies, story, characters, gameplay, tone and item management system have already been assassinated.

Yeah I agree completely with Kiva, especially on the regenerators. You can't deal with regenerators that easily, they're bullet sponges and can take a beating. It does sound like you were playing on Easy, or maybe had some guide.

Story? Really? RE's story has always been pretty crazy, RE4 sort of embraced it.

Enemies dissolving? That's nitpicking, pretty awful nitpicking. Enemies were relatively smart, but as a whole enemies were always kind of dumb in RE, and there were ways to manipulate it. Bosses...a few were good, but I wouldn't say all such as Krauser.

RE4 was necessary because the games were getting stale by 0, and some even say by Code Veronica; between those games, REmake took in elements and gave us what was almost an entirely new game that was great, though 0 showed the aging issues. What happened after RE4 is not that game's fault, it's Capcom ****ing up and thinking everyone wanted just the action. But don't act like the older games never did some of the things RE4 did, don't be that misguided favoritism guy.

Re: Resident Evil 2 (Remake officially confirmed) WE DO IT!

RE4 is a bad RE game, it's a good action game though.
