Re: Resident Evil 2 (Remake officially confirmed) WE DO IT!

I think that Resident Evil 4 was both a decent Resident Evil game as well as a great third person shooter. There was a lot of tension and fear especially with the Chainsaw at the Village, the Lake monster and exposed plaga heads, the insects in the sewers and the Castellans Right Hand Hunter, and especially the Regenerators and Iron Maidens. The game had problems of course but myself and many others enjoyed it. To say it was the downfall of Resident Evil is wrong, that fault lies with Capcom.

It's a masterpiece in it's own right. Downfall? No, but it was the stepping stone of ruining the series since Capcom just eliminated horror from the series there after.

Re: Resident Evil 2 (Remake officially confirmed) WE DO IT!

Roughly what higgins and Pliss said, yeah. And it's a fine RE title too (PA is just having a midlife crisis, moving on....)

It's like MGS 3, which was a fine game and standalone story, but started the bizarre focus on Big Boss that ruined MGS.

Exactly but in both cases I blame the creators for ignoring their fanbase and trying to mimic the successes of other games outside of their own genre.

Re: Resident Evil 2 (Remake officially confirmed) WE DO IT!

Same thing happened with Dead Space butan do I want another title there too.

Re: Resident Evil 2 (Remake officially confirmed) WE DO IT!

I think Capcom started to go through a period where they didn't know jack ****, that's all. RE5 looked like it was the makings of a truly great follow up, but the racist claims got to them...

Also true on Dead Space, but I feel there was so much meddling on there.

It's this exactly, where both series lost it's identity and tried to capture the same audience over and over until they killed both series.

I think MPO did that well enough as a follow up to Snake Eater... but I couldn't tell you what he was going for with both PW and V...

RE5 was pretty in the same vein as RE4, but they completely eliminated any type of fear while playing. Since they started giving Zombie level enemies firearms, it was the beginning of the end.

Reminds me of RE6, where Chris's campaign is nothing but that :lol At least Leon has Zombies, and was pretty in tune with RE2 leading to the church.

I'm not saying it's a bad game. :lol it just took the series in a different direction. Stale or not the series needs to go back to its roots. 5 was okay... 6 was just repulsive. With 4 being this new BA RE title they thought they could continue their streak. :lol obviously it didn't.

Code Veronica was the last we saw zombies... 4 was the beginning of a new series that ended with an okay sequel(5) to only get worse. I'm not included the Revelations titles. Hopefully 7 will be more of the original titles than these new ones. They're aren't working anymore. Capcom just got to cocky with the praise 4 got. Too bad the Outbreak were released at the wrong time.

Anyway, I rather get a remake of 3, even Code Veronica. The only people that want 7 are the ones that like 6. :lol I don't where capcom would take series... Tbh. Revelations are just filing those empty gaps from the original story line.

It's more like, they tried catching the same audience but removed other elements that kept the original audience and the new one.

I have to play PO at some point, gonna search ebay at some point. RE5 was bizarre, but I think from the trailers it looked legitimately tense at least. But after Sheva became a thing, something got lost...things changed.

I still love the amount of fans who praise Chris's campaign, and say the others suck :lol

But that 'bad RE' thing is effectively saying it is a bad game :lol and you can only go so far with old design where it's not just nostalgia but desperation, you have to admit. I'd welcome some classic style REs, but I wouldn't want it forever, it feels like Capcom was running out of ideas with that.

RE3make would be great, I'd be interested...but what could they do? We've gone over RE2, but I'm not sure what besides Raccoon City consistency, and implications of Leon and Claire arriving in the city. A Code Veronica remake would be worth it sorely to see Steve Burnside as a decent human being or maybe him being reconnected out of existence :lol cause man when you look at it, the game's length and difficulty is sorely due to Steve being a refutable prick.

There's a perfect PSP emulator out and it "HD"-ifies the graphics. I would just go with that to play Portable Ops and Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core. If not, there are movie versions of both on Youtube:

Darkside Chronicles had some interesting ideas that could go into a CV remake. RE3make could expand on not only more locales within the city, but the chase mechanics against Nemesis. Nemmy wouldn't be limited by the PS1 engine and could follow or stalk you more, such as not having to wait for you to leave the screen showing the door for him to appear.

Re: Resident Evil 2 (Remake officially confirmed) WE DO IT!

I think there could be a solid remake potential for 3 as well. Like RE2 Remake the city is likely to be incredibly large and traversal is likely to take a long time and they can always add meaningful content if they so choose. They could even do a soild prelude focusing on Jill before **** hits the fan. I wouldn't be oposed to them adding a short CG movie as a bonus feature that explores the state of the world after 3. I don't care which game it is but I want to play as Hunk at some point in an actual story mode.

Re: Resident Evil 2 (Remake officially confirmed) WE DO IT!

Yeah I agree completely with Kiva, especially on the regenerators. You can't deal with regenerators that easily, they're bullet sponges and can take a beating. It does sound like you were playing on Easy, or maybe had some guide.

Story? Really? RE's story has always been pretty crazy, RE4 sort of embraced it.

Enemies dissolving? That's nitpicking, pretty awful nitpicking. Enemies were relatively smart, but as a whole enemies were always kind of dumb in RE, and there were ways to manipulate it. Bosses...a few were good, but I wouldn't say all such as Krauser.

RE4 was necessary because the games were getting stale by 0, and some even say by Code Veronica; between those games, REmake took in elements and gave us what was almost an entirely new game that was great, though 0 showed the aging issues. What happened after RE4 is not that game's fault, it's Capcom ****ing up and thinking everyone wanted just the action. But don't act like the older games never did some of the things RE4 did, don't be that misguided favoritism guy.

Professional mode. No walkthrough. Use the infra red scope on your first playthrough then every other time you didnt need it as there were 3 patterns of plaga locations.

Also, how the hell did I forget about Ashley? Horrendous baby sitting from a god awful and whiney voice. Sherry, a 12 year old girl ran off on her own, faced Zombies and cerberus but still got claire grenade rounds and a key. Ashley just shrieks and if you try to look up to a ledge because of the camera not letting you she calls you a pervert!

Enemies dissolving is NOT nitpicking. Its ridiculous. They dissolve and leave either a blue, red or green halo depending if they left ammo, health or money. I mean come on! These are HUMAN enemies. HUMAN. Just leave bodies on the ground and let them disappear next time your in the area. Not dissolve them and leave you behind 50 smg bullets even though they have no guns at all.

I thought the QTE Krauser fight was the best as it sums up RE4. Its an all american super hero saving the presidents daughter against a conspiring fallen ally. A faux Wesker so to speak.

REmake provided the future for capcom. The old play style was grating and it needed to update itself. Problem was Capcom got RE4 and its direction wrong.

Instead of zombies, Umbrella could have found a way to skip the initial infection stage and go straight to V-ACT. That way Crimson heads who are faster and smarter would be the base enemy. Add the RE4 over the shoulder view and you have a faster gameplay which induces panic. Also makes ammo conservation more pivitol as you have to decapitate or incinerate so unloading a hail of bullets does nothing.

It essentially was everything wrong with the series rolled into one. It just needed a big punchable boulder.

I think it all depends on REmake 2, but I'd say it's a given they'll consider it. RE3 is the other side of the coin for the Raccoon City story.

This has got to be a troll. You are playing professional mode, which means you have atleast already completed the game once. Probably multiple times, maybe even with money and weapons carried over and you say the game is too easy? The game you have completed multiple times, know where everything is and how to kill everything is easy? Of course it is...?
Also, how the hell did I forget about Ashley? Horrendous baby sitting from a god awful and whiney voice. Actually you maybe arent that pro after all. Ashleys voice is annoying, but the fact you didnt mention her biggest gameplay positive is showing. Enemies are drawn to her, put her near corners and tell her to stay, enemies gravitate towards here so you can be left alone to just pick them off at your leisure. Theres exceptions like Shield weilding ganados and plaga heads but still.

Dissolving enemies and item drops are stupid, yet teleporting item boxes and time-freezing item management from the original games play by real life rules?
I thought the QTE Krauser fight was the best as it sums up RE4. Its an all american super hero saving the presidents daughter against a conspiring fallen ally. A faux Wesker so to speak.
You mean just like how RE1 had the cheap B movie feel where Chris Redfield our hero must fight against the odds, save his girl Jill and then defeat the Tyrant and literally fly off in to the sunset?

So, in this theoretical game the base bad guys are already super strong and super fast? What happened to slow pace and ammo conservation if you are fighting super fast strong enemies? Im confused if you want no action, lots of action ..

Enemies can only be killed by decapitation or incineration. Sure, in story. If this was to be implemented in gameplay it would break the game. If you have no bullets, or no means to burn you still need to be able to progress in the game. Thats why when you killed a crimson head in any fashion it stayed dead.

Hmm, interesting on the emulator. I've seen that for other engines like PS2 and GameCube

I've been meaning to pick up Darkside Chronicles and re pick up Umbrella Chronicles, Darkside has beautiful visuals for a late Wii title :drool

Expansions on Nemesis would be great, anything to make more of a threat.

Instead of the boulder, we got that horrifying romance (not bromance, just romance) moment at the end :yuck:

I don't even want to respond to the original post, but this is again another great response to it. Dissolving bodies is nitpicking because there's no real difference between either, you could say it's like the plagas work or something. The thing on Regenerators...what the hell? That doesn't really make sense, because they still will take a lot of bullets.

The rest, again, Kiva hit on the head.

Re: Resident Evil 2 (Remake officially confirmed) WE DO IT!

I was never a Chris fan, or at least not a big one... but RE6 just made me outright hate him. He was just an angry drunk that just constantly gets his comrades killed. Piers? :lol Who honestly gave a flying **** about him?

I still can't get over how Jill's death didn't effect him this much. If we're going by 'Jill's death motivated Chris to work out', which is just a pitiful defense against the steroids argument, that's probably worse.

I didn't mind Chris since in RE1, he had those cheesy lines that fit with the game, and CV showed he did care about Claire enough to track her down with Leon's help...then RE5 happened and I started to question him since he was fairly bland even with Roger Craig Smith's attempts.

Piers, lmao :lol

Re: Resident Evil 2 (Remake officially confirmed) WE DO IT!

Well, he worked out hard after CV after getting his *** handed to him by Wesker. Devs even said so IIRC.

:rotfl you raise a good point. He was more affected by nameless nothing soldiers WAY more than Jill's "death."

And he was still tossed around like a rag doll :lol

Chris definitely wasn't natty.

Re: Resident Evil 2 (Remake officially confirmed) WE DO IT!

With a 3 remake they could expand Raccoon City, areas of the RPD, city hall, the clock tower and dead factory. Even the hospital and park. Update the Mercs mode. Plus, it always had the different life situations. Fight the creature or run inside the RPD. Maybe add a new boss, technically only Nemesis and the grave digger were boss battles in the game.
