Same here. I've actually already tried both the PS3 and 360 versions of the game (at Capcom's recent RE5 and Bionic Commando event in San Francisco), so the demo isn't really a big deal to me.

However, to be honest, ever since the RE remake on Gamecube I associated the RE series on a Nintendo system. The Gamecube got (arguably) the best Resident Evil games in the series. It was only until RE4 was ported that the PS2 finally got a decent, new RE game (the ports of the older games, such as Code Veronica, don't count). Barring RE4, the only modern RE game that PS2 got were the crappy Outbreak series.

So for me, it's going to be weird playing an RE on anything but a Gamecube controller.

Damn, when was this??!! How'd you find out?? Do you have a certain website that lets you know when stuff is coming to the Bay Area, cause I'd be interested in knowing about some upcoming events!!

The Capcom RE5 & Bionic Commando event was held on December 16th in SF.

Capcom (among many other game companies, which there are a lot in SF) holds frequent events, so I recommend following Capcom's official blog here: (Capcom-Unity Blog). I also suggest just following Kotaku or 1up for general event info.

Their next event is the Street Fighter 4 Club game night on January 16th. Details in the link above.

My friend writes for a gaming/pop culture website, and as press he gets the scoop on most things gaming related - which trickles down to me. :D

I am curious about the demo. Played and enjoyed RE4 - since that was my first game in the RE series, I really have no clue what was going on, but its still fun!

That is cool to hear about the new (optional) control scheme, I never really liked the controls for RE4.....so i'll try out the new controls.

What new control scheme?

A while back there were rumors that they'd have it where you could walk/run and shoot at the same time, but it isn't in the demo so it doesn't seem like they did that.

It wasn't in the Japanese demo but hopefully they've put it in the American one. IGN reported that it was an option when they broke the story about the demo earlier yesterday.

Here is the info (posted today or technically yesterday now, on IGN). The American demo will have it when released on January 26th:

"The demo also includes the option of using the new "action controls" that are said to be inspired by games like Halo 3. The original Resident Evil control scheme is available as well."

I read that the new control scheme is really just the ability to move & shot at the same time

I doubt Sheva will die. The previous live action trailer which take place after RE5 showes Sheva looking at Chris. I'm just wondering if they're gonna kill off Wesker since he's said to be a boss.

Capcom:
Capcom's Resident Evil 5 Collector's Edition Exposed!

Capcom is pleased to announce the Resident Evil 5 Collector’s Edition. First teased last week at the Consumer Electronics Show in Vegas, the Collector’s Edition will be available on day one of the game shipping Friday, March 13, 2009. Available for only a limited time, gamers will be able to pre-order the collectible set starting today at the Capcom store at www.capcom.com. On launch date, the set will be available at all major retailers in North America with a price of $89.99 for the Xbox 360 and PLAYSTATION 3.

For fans of the highly popular series, the box set is not to be missed as it will include a host of never-before-seen collectible items not available anywhere else. All designed around RE5’s Kijuju setting and the game’s in-depth storyline, the box will include a Tricell messenger bag, Chris Redfield figurine, BSAA patch and Kijuju-inspired pendant.

Bringing the entire collection together is a custom made steel case with special art showcasing signature elements of the RE5 campaign - the Kijuju writings, ominous number five and two-player co-op. Inside the steel case is where the real action lies, with a two disc set including the game and bonus disc with additional special features. The Making of Resident Evil 5 feature, first shown at the Tokyo Game Show, will be released on the bonus disc for the first time. A digital art gallery showcasing the game’s incredible HD graphics and impressive art style and a Resident Evil Degeneration Trailer will top off the special features making a bonus disc that is a must-have for all Resident Evil devotees.

Easy pass I liked the Japanese SE better.

Agreed. However, I'm still getting it. The Japanese collectors edition is certainly cooler, but at $130 (plus import shipping costs), it's not that cool. And I don't see myself wearing that bandolier thing in public.

The BSAA patch in the NA LE is pretty cool though. Would look nice on my messenger bag.

I am thinking about bidding on that RE5 kijuju clock on ebay.

I dont know if anyone got the Japanese demo, but a couple of weeks ago some guy was selling copies of the demo on ebay for 6.00. I got it but my 360 died a day after (my luck), I borrowed my nephew's last night and finally tried it out for about 5 minutes, and got killed by this tall fat executioner with spikes stuck on parts of his body and a huge ax. The game is very intense. You start on a small hill where you and the girl walk towards and inside a shack. As you enter a CG movie will play, as a it shows some guys addressing the crowd, They execute some one by beheading, he then see you inside the shack thru the window and orders the crowd to attack you, this were the action starts. Im not sure what I m supposed to do besides defend my self from the incoming enemies, but I found myself running out of ammo (Yeah, Im not very good). The girl helps you if you are in trouble (in the demo she carries a sniper rifle), she also calls for help when she needs it. Like I said I didnt play much, but I will play some more tonight. You get to pick 2 stages, I have no idea what the other one is like but looking forward to finding out.
