We’ve discussed, at length, some of the special editions that Resident Evil 6 will be getting when it finally drops. A Collector’s Edition is available in Japan, a Limited Edition will be available in Europe, and let’s not forget the ultra deluxe Premium Edition. Which one will you be getting? Will you be getting any of them?
If you happen to call the United States home, you have the choice of Resident Evil 6 Anthology, Resident Evil 6 Archives, or vanilla Resident Evil 6. That’s it, those are your choices.
That…kind of sucks. Particularly for those long-time fans who already have every game that the Archives/Anthology offers. So naturally, Americans (and by extension Canadians too, because we’re in the same boat in this respect), would want to know why.
Capcom’s Christian Svensson offered the following statement:
What the US marketing team tried to do, was to pack as much value (game value) into the offering as possible. It seems that for fans who own everything, that’s not a terribly compelling offering (Though pre-orders for it are going well, so it is finding an audience). Unfortunately, there’s not going to be a solution for you this time around, but we’ll discuss your feedback and the needs of fans who already own everything on future titles as we mull over collectors and special editions.
Well then.
You might be saying to yourself “So what? It’s full of useless crap anyway!” While that may be true, some people like these things, they like displaying them on their shelves and the like. While some might abhor the idea of spending extra money on trinkets and toys, others are right into it.
If you’re dead-set on having a particular version of Resident Evil 6, you could always import. However the idea that Capcom’s marketing team would tell its American audience, possibly its largest audience, we’ll just give you what you probably already have, so deal with it, is a little disappointing.
