I nipped out before and got this at midnight (The only person there, a new low for me :lol)

Thoughts:

This game is brilliant so far. I've played around 2 hours of Leon's campaign.

I've also had a good few games on Mercenaries, as it is unlocked from the beginning. "Agent hunt" or w.e it's called is locked until you finish a campaign.

Mercenaries is what really pleased me. Boy oh boy I am going to spend some hours on this. It seems to me like you can't pick up any of your partners Ammo, I was chris, the partner was Leon, he has a shotgun I have a rifle, yet I never once picked up shotgun pellets. That's a brilliant addition imo. No more wasting time getting rid of your partners ammo from your inventory. It' so smooth too, I love the gameplay now as I am used to the controls. Also if you use Chris' magnum and do the quick shot (L1 & R1) together, it kills them in one, perfect for getting a quick kill when the combo is about to run out!

They have perfected mercenaries imo.

Bed time now but can't wait to dive in tomorrow, play some more campaign and mercs.

I haven't a bad word to say about this game yet based upon my first night of play.

It's just RE5 but better so far.

Hope my opinion doesn't change the more I play!

Tomorrow :D.
I played all campaigns and I go to say that the least one I like thus far is the Jack and Sherry one...

I can answer this now

Once you complete the game with all characters, new " skills " unlock. These skills are infinite ammo for certain guns. So you purchase them and then they are infinite.
Awesome, thanks!

But when you say all characters, does that mean I have to finish the game with Helena / Piers / Sherry as well as Leon / Chris / Jake?

Or just Leon / Chris / Jake?

Id also highly recommend playing as Sherry in Jakes campaign.

Is she a very good character to use?

Ign had a negative on the RE6 review saying to much action. Lol

IGN is full of **** .

:rotfl I do agree with some game reviews but not all with IGN.

But they should not be seen as the gospel for game ratings.

Okay, I broke and downloaded the demo because I have just been in shock over all the poor reviews... and I must say that I had a BLAST playing Leon and Chris' campaign.

**** the reviewers, RE6 is incredible and every true RE fan will enjoy it :D

I work nights and knowing Amazon/Postal, I won't get my copy til about 3pm the day of release anyway. Plan on co-op with a friend.

I think it's a lose/lose situation with Resident Evil to be honest. I think Capcom tried to please everyone with RE6. I mean, you go back and play RE1 and it's still hard as $(#! imo, and I think the formula is perfect. They could have easily just expanded on that and added certain things that would compliment that system as consoles improved. But then RE would still get those kind of reviews. So I mean... what can you do?

All crapcom needed was REmake with RE4 play style. Its essentially how Dead Space is. How come EA/visceral of all companies can do intriguing multi layered story with fantastic visuals and atmosphere with some action. Then make a sequel with more action but retain every quality of the original and make the action necessary/natural. DS3 theyve got single no AI or coop human in ONE game while adding himan enemies and STILL keeping the game true to survival horror with solid non over the top unnecessary action!?

Just all 4 campaigns, you dont need to play with the partner characters.

And there was an awesome level in Jake & Sherrys where its basically 1 player for a good while and Sherrys was far more entertaining.

I've decided the past week to not look in this thread since unlike the veterans you might get a newb that might post spoilers without the warning. But anyways I'm picking this up later and if anyone wants to add me to do COOP later in the week after I finish campaign going solo please do so.

RPGs are normally my favorite thing, but I have to be honest, survival horror at it's best is a gaming experience like no other. I'm a big Megaman fan as well, and all I keep thinking is "thank god Capcom didn't do that RE". And.. Capcom seems to realize they've #($(ed Megaman over somewhat, so hopefully they are paying more attention to fan response and the next RE might be more survival than action.

I'm downloading the Amazon DLC right now, The High Seas Fortress Stage. I can't wait to get my copy of the game later today. I hope it won't be too long before DLC is available.

I doubt it. 4 was great but really it was a departure from the first several games.

I honestly think FPS fanboys are ruining gaming. Thats all people want to play anymore. As long as people want to run and gun game developers have no choice to meet that need.

I will say watching IGN's review and reading it are two different experiences. Watching the review made me want the game and gave me the impression that it's not as bad as the written review makes it out to be. I want this but think I will wait for a sale and go with Dishonored next week.

I've never been a fan of FPS. I've never felt like RE was a shooter game, at least not RE1 et all. For me it's more about survival, strategy, and puzzle solving. I love REmake b/c the zombies are tougher to kill and keep dead. Still, I really enjoyed the RE6 demo.
