It's a little hard to deviate from a series you have been invested in for almost 20 years. I will be getting it, I don't like where the series is going since their being made for a cockroach mentality generation that is very easily amused.

My main point in getting it is to play as Leon again.

Thread isnt called the RE6 love in. If it was, id stay away. You got a problem criticising 6? Tough. Dont read it to be frank.

There IS no horror being brought back. Only a blind fool would think that. 'Old school fans'? Speak for yourself. 16 years I was playing RE games. Nothing in 6 is 'old school', nor what this old school fan wants. being in the dark doesnt make it old school. Neither does dual wielding, regen health, point to point with no exploration, ducking diving, more melee attacks rolling on the floor and sliding whilst shooting.....

RE never even had frightening horror to be honest, except for REmake. it was horror asin the environments, the enclosure, the false securities, the silence, the wake after the storm; Bodies in the RPD, bullet holes and blood stains of officers who died fighting and have risen and are no longer there. Dead Spec ops in the hospital protecting the doctors, after something, probably the vaccine before hunter B's ripped them to shreds. dead patients and visitors next to them.

Dead tourists and citizens around uptown and downtown. In the resturant. The zombies behind the barricade when you burn the rope shutting a door; were they people hiding from zombies? Officers who were dead and collegues putting their bodies behind the barricade so they couldnt come back and attack them, or is it the other way around; wounded RPD members, hiding behind the barricade so they wont get mauled to death by the cerberus, but some succum and kill the rest?

These things are whats missing. Its the imagination, the seed the games plant in your mind, the horrors which it only shows you the after storm and lets you imagine how and what happened, giving hints about what happened like in the Clock tower with the UBCS. All that, is missing. The scientists going crazy, seeing their collegues slowly get infected. Similar with the RPD guard. Itchy, tasty. All the intriguing storytelling, the memo's which feed it are all gone. This is why I loved Dead Space; it built on that sort of story telling with an intriguing story and setting. Thats what you played the original RE games for; story, setting, environment, the imagination and thought put into it. it was never solely about gameplay at all. It was surviving the horrors which hit Spencer mansion, Training facility, Raccoon City and Rockfort Island.

IMO, REmake with RE4 perspective. Job done. Gameplay was tanklike and boring. It desperatly needed change. But to basically re-write history and the whole franchise? Yeah. Ofcourse.

And 20 hours long? Bull. Capcom said it would be 3 times as long as RE5- i finished RE5 in just over 4 hours. So its 12 hours. Split into 3, which means potentially 4 hours of 'leons old school RE' which will probably only be 3hrs maximum if that. So from 20 hours, you can deduce it to 3 hours possibly 4 hours of actually gaming that is a short resemblance of what I want to play, because Melee brawler and action shooter aint what I expect or want from RE.

I wasnt a big fan of RE4, great game, crap RE game. But id take RE4 over this crap and the crap from RE5. at least RE4 respected characters like Wesker and Ada and didnt butcher them, just butchered Leon.

Like ive said before, if it turns out im wrong, hold everything ive said against me. But im telling you, they lied about RE5 completly, and theyve said its only gonna get worse by gunning for COD in 6 and more so in 7. Mark my words.

Instead of reading your novel about how you feel about a video game. I suggest you drop re since you feel so betrayed by it. Last time I checked you can do stuff like that it's pretty damn easy. O hey here's another thing..... Wait for it..... .... Hold on..... It's coming..... Play the game for yourself the whole game not just 10 min. Dear lord.

Sure you want action and excitement have at it. But the core element is no longer there. Is it crazy to be upset over that?

And you raise a good point, we haven't played it yet. And from the Leon gameplay it definitely seems like they have that dark scary fearful element in there. If it extends beyond the demo I will gladly go back on what I said.

And by the way, I despise Chris so I can't say I'm excited to play as him AGAIN for the 2nd time in a row

I think they should of Milked Code Veronicas engine for a game or two before doing the 180 with RE4. As basically 0-1-2-3 played the same CV added to the games. CV had no pre-rendered backgrounds and had the semi-follow cam. Also had duel weapons and the games character change was really well handled. The knife was actually effective and you could use the lighter to actually light up areas and fend off bats.

Play as Piers! I think it's optional from the get go. I might just play Sherry on my first go through for that scenario.

Damn right. It was the first step in the next generation of gaming and it was only utilized for ONE GAME.

I think Code Veronica is kind of the bastard child of the next generation of gaming and isn't really looked at as much as it should be. As a story, setting, gameplay it might in some ways be the top game of the older games since it reinvented itself but didn't deviate at all from it's core.

Although, I will always be a Resident Evil 2 fanboy

And im not betrayed, its a game. If I wanna criticise it I will. You can too. Go for it. I havnt touched a game for a month now because im too busy working. Still like to keep up on things. you're right we haven't played it yet im not thrilled about chris either but we get leon and jake too .

The fact Jake is Wesker's kid is all the more reason for me to be excited to play as him. I've been a hardcore Wesker fan since the PS1 RE1
