Im discarding all knowledge of the games, and talking about it as a film. Theres no suspense, theres no horror, theres terrible CGI, soundtracks are terrible, the action is stupid, never in my life have I seen a full action sequence from start to end in the most painstainkingly stupid fight in full slow motion (exectuioner). I mean, when the Executioner hit the toilets wall, the walla absorbed it and moved backwards, it was even on the great movie flaws programme on BBC 3 it was that bad.

And when you watch actual, brilliant horror films with the zombie-esque tone, just look at 28 days/weeks later, dawn of the dead both original and remake, REC.... They dont use gimicky bullet time, pathetic amounts of poorly done CGI or this eye candy you say, because its hardly eye candy, its just the stupid modern warfare generation who love lots of bullets flying and no substance. But hey, if thats what floats peoples boats in films then I hope they enjoy them.

And merchandise doesnt make a film. So what if a figure is made which is accurate to a character? Doesnt mean that the actor who is the character cant act, or the film theyre from is just terrible. Degeneration was boring as hell. it was nice having the proper voice actors back, but in general, is was a boring film.

Nobody, well myself, I havn't asked for a carbon copy of the games. I mean, Apocalypse couldv'e been awsome. When Carlos, Nicholai and the wounded soldier were fighting through the streets, that was awsome. it wouldve been ace to have a film purely about escaping in that scenario, the characters are in the streets, hunted by nemesis, zombies, lickers, cerberus, streets are blocked so they have to use alleys which are narrow, limited ammunition, the dead round every corner, the struggle to survive.

instead, it was this dull character doing flips in slow-mo on a motorcycle, boxing with Nemesis. you gotta admit, they murder nemesis to hell. It could've been something really powerful to not only have it as mat, but have as near invincible killing machine, the humanity gone and they have to kill it. Not in a boxing fight. it was just too cheesy. Worse than Romero's current films. Id rather watch diary of the dead than RE2/3/4/5.

The first one, they did quite well. Loved the Umbrella team, but they killed too many too soon in the laser room personally.

And Marilyn mansons Seizure of Power, red queen and cleansing were brilliant in their respective scenes.

I liked it because you felt that any of them could die at any moment. The films immediatly went rubbish when they made Alice infected so zombies dont go near her, but she doesnt mutate, then shes a ninja clone. They took the vulnerability from the character. Alice in RE1 was vulnerable, they knew how to handle themselves, but they were succeptable to death, you didnt know who would die next. Now you know everyone will die except alice because she super-invincible and ruins the film.

Im with you 100 percent. But its capcoms fault tho. They could have licensed Jill to be in the movies becuase Milla was supposed to be her but they didnt so they made a new character. Idk why they decided to go all matrixy and all that jazz. I want a reboot as much as the next guy and everytime a picture comes out for the new movie I hate it more and more. I decided to stop becuase most people on here seem to like the movies I cant understand but its whatever. All I know is that RE6 is coming out and that should make every fan happy.

Except they have great costumes and settings, great eye candy, great action and great soundtracks. And at the moment the merch coming out from RE:Afterlife is very cool with the figures, props and statues. The movies do not need to be master pieces of well written nature because they are action flicks. Not movies that you need to think about while you watch. They are clearly not that kind of movie from the get go. If you want to watch them with the negative frame of mind before the credits even start then you will never be happy.

It feels like most people who dont like the movies are already Resident Evil fans but just bitter ones who whinge about what they imagine the movies should be like. And its usually a direct rip of the games which wouldnt work as the entire feel of the games is that YOU are in the game. The movies would need to be 4 hours long with lots of pointless running around and back tracking. No dialogue for long periods of time and repetitive action to make some people happy. Then nobody but them would watch the movies and it would bomb so fast.

The most boring RE Movie by far was Degeneration and that was the one tied directly into the video games. And im a much bigger fan of the games than movies.

Nobodys asking for a direct ripoff but a horror movie. A movie like 28 days later. Resident evil was never supposed to be an action game but a horror mystery. Doesnt matter now becuase Im done argueing about it lol.

Well nowadays the games have far more action than the movies do. And people (eventhough they still lvoe the originals) also love the new games and some like ive used in example before's favourite game is Resident evil 4 which is jam packed none stop action with no horror other than creepy crawly designs. But when its in a movie its bad. And people forget that the games havent felt like " RE " either since Code Veronica. I think half of the hate against the movies is redundant as it can be spun into current games and people see it as a positive. And then you have things people hate in the games like how it is no longer umbrella and there was no zombies and the movies had both thoes but yet the movies still got hated upon. It just seems rather unfair and not sporting when you look at both arguments objectively. It always feels like the haters "gna hate" type of attitude is used. And it grinds my gears.

But i have been going around Resident Evil discussions for years in 1 forum of another and the usual response to the movies is that they should copy the games, same characters and just cut out bits and bobs for time restraints. But thats more die hard fans of RE not just a casual forum like this with multiple fans.

ANYWAY... ORC! HELL YEAH!

lol they made the movies to appeal to those who lack maturity (teens). i can't understand those who can enjoy and call those movies a competent attempt to make a decent movie but they are usually teenagers or the same people who think ultraviolet was "an awesome movie".

From a purely film perspective, the RE movies are pure crap. The characters are barely caricatures placed within plots full of holes so big you could fly a jet through and action sequences that would even make Michael Bay wonder if they were really necessary. With that being said, I do watch and own them (except Extinction which was just too awful). I enjoy them in the same way that I like movies like Tremors or The Mummy series. They work as mindless entertainment that prevent me from being bored for a hour and a half (especially Apocalypse since it has Jill :naughty ). If I want to watch an actually good film, I’ll go watch Bicycle Thieves, There Will Be Blood, or Apocalypse Now. If you don’t like the RE movies, don’t watch them and just try to ignore the people that do.

Back on-topic, do the pre-order bonuses look like they are the same weapons/skins that are included with the collector’s edition? They look like it, which will probably make me change my pre-order from Gamestop to Amazon. The fact that there are no skins for the Spec Op characters really make me think that they won’t have a campaign either, which is a shame. Hopefully outfit DLC will be available later on for both sides and for the Heroes though.

The first mummy film was quite good! Otherwise, id love to be able to play as HUNK for a DLC mission, 2-3 hour story playing as HUNK from the storming of birkin (could start off with silenced MP5's, taking down security personell stealthily through the sewers and the laboratory, all the way to getting the g-virus, then HUNK's struggle).

Or Mikhail Victor DLC, play as him (or geonauvf)

For DLC, I am really hoping that the Spec Op team gets a mission pack like the size of ME2's Lair of the Shadow Broker, the Fallout 3 packs or something similar to see what they were doing before they ran into the USS team. Hunk getting some love would also be pretty cool.

Agreed 100% :exactly:

You and I think alike! :hi5:

appreciated. i dont want a carbon copy.

my girlfriend would kill me were watching and i go.geek mode saying 'oh this is where chris fights Fi-03 NEPTUNE. it also results in Richard Aikens death. but no worrys he avoids becoming chum by dodging neptunes lunge and emptying the water from the flooded aqua ring caused by a mad scientist. ofcourse thats backstory but he then electrocutes neptune after it makes a last gasp lunge when chris enters the bottom of the aqua ring lab system.

dont get me started about how chimera was spliced or the MA-121A Hunter!

This sounds like an awesome game. I'd love to get something like this in the RE universe.

I was excited for the Jill figure but never made it. It Claire, Leon, Chris which Jill was going to be the next line but never happened... I've seen the pro type of it. Sad...

Yeah, I remember before they added Wesker to the 3rd lineup, the hunter was supposed to come with a Hunter gamma (which I'm totally fine with :lol). They said he was to be included in series 4, along with Jill...series 4 never happened...I sad.

Female Zombie was planned as well. That next series looked pretty awesome. I loved those Palisades Resident Evil figures.
