I'm figuring $100-$110. Just for inflation of the price of the LOTR EE sets.

No word yet on price? I read somewhere that the Blu set (which also includes 3D Blu and ever useless Ultraviolet discs) should be clocking in at about $55 US on its own. I would think the statue would add at least $40 or $50 to that number ...

It would be nice to eliminate both the 3-D and UV discs if they add anything significant to the price. I doubt if many people have the equipment to play it at home in 3-D (congratulations to those that do!). As you said I have absolutely no use for the UV version, but if that's the only way to get this then I'll take 'em.

seeing the movie in 3D spoils you. i like the 3D version included and i think the technology one day will be more affordable and mainstream.

Assuming this will be in the $75-80 range like the previous special editions with statues.

I don't think it costs the studios much to burn extra discs, but it does kind of irritate me that I have SO many extra discs that I'll never use. I suppose it's better (and far less confusing to the consumer) than quadruple and quintuple dipping for all the various formats, though. But it does kind of bug me.

It's just a matter of time, though. In five year's time we won't have this problem because it's all gonna be digital downloads or cloud storage. Which makes me sad.

I suppose then they could include a 3D file for us to print our own statues out on our home 3D printers!

Two things I noticed was that a regular DVD isn't included in this set and that the statue is an Amazon Exclusive which is kinda surprising.

I wouldn't worry about the statue being an Amazon exclusive. You'll probably see it every where.

Believe me, that won't happen in 5 years. They still haven't gotten rid of vinyl totally.

I wonder if it will cost as much to print out a statue.

Well I already have the first bluray release because I couldn't imagine they'd make an EE for the Hobbit considering it's already extended but hell this is awesome!

Hopefully the set with the statue finds its way here though. Although the statue only come with the Bluray set, hmm. I am still on lowtech and only watch DVD's, that version is up for €29,99.

Remember when the LOTR EE's came out everybody I knew who loved LOTR went out and bought them. Ignorant decision by Warner Bros. this,very ignorant decision
