Shooting now...

Hmm... That haircut looks awfully Familiar.

I am a huge fan of Robin Hood...

I love the Disney cartoon, Adventures of Robin Hood, and most of all Prince of Thieves!!!

I am totally ready for a new Robin Hood movie but I am bummed that Russell Crowe is playing both RH and The Sheriff. The movie will probably work but Im still not convinced. I was much more excited when I heard originally that Crowe would be The Sheriff (good) and Christian Bale would be RH (bad)...a new take on the story.

But then everything changed and Crowe is now playing both roles.

I heard that they discarded that idea and that someone else would play The Sherrif now. I'm not sure though...
Enlightenment anyone

Anyway, I'm really excited to see this film. I love films set in medieval times :)

What I heard is that he isn't playing a duel role, Robin Hood is also the Sheriff of Nottingham in this version.

Well, sounds promising to have Scott directing a classic story... don't get the Sheriff and Robin being the same person though? Guess it will make sense at some point though... at least I hope it does :lol

Since no mask is involved I don't think it would be possible for this one to work. The Sheriff would certainly be known thoughout the land and recognizable.

Well, he does have a hood.

I'm not sure if they can pull off the balancing act, but it does sound more plausible than RC playing 2 different people.

I don't see any hood in that picture so I don't think he'll have one.

The only way I could see that working would be if they had some sort of Charlie Kaufman type script where Robin Hood was just an image or a desire of what the Sheriff wants to be and doesn't really exist, but this is Ridley we're talking about here so I think it'll be pretty straight forward and will be two different roles and two different people.

Look again, mate. The fabric bunched about his neck is a hood. He could hide beneath it to disguise his identity which would add to his mystery and legend. But I hope they don't go for such a literal interpretation of Robin Hood.

The more I think about this, the more it sounds like TDK.

The rich and influential Sheriff of Nottingham disguised as superhero "Robin Hood" to Marion:
"It's not who I am underneath, it's what I do that defines me."

What do you call that, er, hmm... hood behind his head?

What good is a hood when it's not up? Not going to hide much is it. So to spell it out, what I was saying is he doesn't have a hood on in that pic so I really doubt that's the route they're taking.

Apperently after looking for the latest news I saw Crowe is only playing Robin Hood now.

edit: Interestingly enough, and something I didn't know is that supposedly the script that Helgeland revised is no longer a story about the Sherriff, but back to being about Robin Hood.

Well I guess this answers all the speculation...

February 17, 2009 - Director Ridley Scott has revealed that his oft-postponed Robin Hood project, previously titled Nottingham, finally begins shooting in two months.

In a chat with MTV, Scott said that Russell Crowe will not be playing the dual roles of Robin Hood and the Sheriff of Nottingham, as had long been reported, but rather just the legendary outlaw of Sherwood Forest.

The dual roles prospect "was an idea so far back, way back when at the time I had this proposed to me, and I read it and thought, 'I don't really know what it does for it, but it's alright'," Scott told MTV. "It is better to simply have the evolution of a character called Robin Hood, who will come out of a point in the Crusades which is the end."

The Kingdom of Heaven helmer said the Robin Hood of his film will begin as a bowman in the army of English king Richard the Lionheart. The Sheriff of Nottingham will now be "less important," with the film's central menace being the French. "The villain is much bigger in that sense; much more important, and much more dangerous," Scott said.

The director also rubbished reports that Crowe's weight is a concern for the production, saying that his leading man will be in shape in time for filming and has been training in archery for the last four months.

Definitely the safer and probably the most box office friendly decision.

But I'm betting he wears his hood up once or twice during the course of the film. ;)
