Re: Ringwraith on Steed PF..Link to buy in 1st Post.

I don't think the reg ES will be much higher. I'm thinking about 750.

I'll bet you're right. :lecture

look at the website, the regular version is OPEN EDITION. I really do not like this trend sideshow is moving towards.

If that's what they're doing, I wouldn't be happy about that either. But I don't know if that's really what they're doing. It says "Limited Edition." I think they just haven't set the edition size for the regular version yet. I'm sure it will be limited, but they just haven't said how limited yet. They will. That's been their pattern anyway.

Usually they set the edition size for the exclusives first (which they did just recently) ... and then a few weeks (or months) later, they set the edition size for the regular edition. Back in the day they used to set the edition sizes before they went up for pre-order, but these days they wait to see how the orders are going before they set the edition sizes.

At least I hope that's what's going on.

We been through this before, i dont understand why people are still confused. It's very clear.

"Limited Edition: TBD" - With edition size, to be announced later.
"Limited Edition" OR "Limited Edition: Limited Edition" - Open ES make as many for as long as they want.

Re: Ringwraith on Steed PF..Link to buy in 1st Post.

Ah the psychology of it all. I suspect this is a marketing practice designed to get the 500 exclusives sold, and it very well may do just that. For me, I go back and forth between being tempted to buy the numbered piece and realizing I can likely save several hundred dollars by waiting and buying one second hand. For example, the alien big chap has a set ES of 1250, is also 800 dollars, yet sells for 600 on eBay so soon after release.

Re: Ringwraith on Steed PF..Link to buy in 1st Post.

there is no reason anyone should buy the reg with the ex still in stock, the $ you think you will save now by buying the reg will be far less than the price delta on the secondary market between the ex vs reg down the road. It's a newbie mistake that should be avoided.

I'm not confused. I'm going by Sideshow's established pattern. I've been collecting Sideshow pieces for over ten years. "Limited Edition" has never meant "limited to the number of pieces we can eventually sell." It means a limited, finite number. They just haven't announced that number yet. This has always been their pattern with all the PFs they've ever made.

Unless they've made some kind of announcement about this piece, specifically announcing that this is going to be an open edition. If they have, my apologies, but I haven't seen anything like that.

The only open edition pieces Sideshow has ever made, to my knowledge, are the handful of LSFs they've announced (and they're a special case).

I just don't think we should read too much into the "Limited Edition" vs. "TBD" thing at this point. Give it a month or so. I'm confident they'll set a number eventually.

:peace

Re: Ringwraith on Steed PF..Link to buy in 1st Post.

The Stormtrooper PF has been available for 8 months already and it's still listed as "Limited Edition".

With SSC, you will never know. They are not consistent in such things.

Ah. Then my bad then. Apologies. I hadn't heard about that one. (Not a Star Wars collector.) Of the lines I collect/watch I've never seen that before. :monkey1

But still, it's not standard procedure. So hopefully an edition size for this bad boy will show up in the coming weeks. I'm not ready to give up on it yet.

you are mistaken, what I said previously is correct. It's been like that forever. Galactus is another example, so is the yoda hut, etc.. Limited edition = open es.

Re: Ringwraith on Steed PF..Link to buy in 1st Post.

Galactus Maquette has Limited Edition without TBD, and that one has been confirmed has an Open ES.

But so far everything that has an open ES does not have an EX, this one has an EX, which is limited to 500, so for sideshow to make the regular an open ES would not make any senses at all. I think it would just make them to sell the EX even longer, because many people would probably okay with the regular and wait until they see in hand pics since regular would not be sold out for a long time especially with open ES.

I still hope and believe that the regular will have an ES.

Re: Ringwraith on Steed PF..Link to buy in 1st Post.

I believe there will be an ES for the Regular for this. 750 to 1000 is my guess. At $800, an edition size of 750 to 1000 will take a long time to sellout. Thus, I think there is no rush to order this now unless you are keen on the Ex Edition.

The ex on this isn't a must have from the looks of it, so a lot of ppl would rather just save money. I still haven't decided yet, but I can save $200 through a retailer on the reg for this because of ca taxes. That's a big difference, still on the fence though.

$200 difference is a tough decision usually it's not that much. The exclusive with sword hand is actually a pretty good ex, i say one of the higher ranked especially considering the 500 ES, but $200 is also a lot of money you can save right off the bat.

I dont think there is an obvious choice here, guess depends on what you think of the ex.

It's gonna come down to if I can get the Hulk maquette for a great price from this same retailer. Will have to wait and see.
