who said wrestling is fake. puts lots of strain on the body.

Well, scripted would be the better word. Also, fake in the sense that when then put someone in a sleeper hold or a figure 4 leg lock it doesn't really hurt because they are not trying to hurt each other.

However, some of the stuff these guys do DOES hurt and they are amazing at what they do. It's sad to see SO many of them die before their time.

He will never return to the ring , hes 58 and retired (quote his brother Lanny Poffo just before Macho died)

Sadly his words came true..........

Sad news, just heard about it.
A fantastic Wrestler/Actor with some flamboyant choices in attire. Liz was a great story arc to him too (old school is the ONLY SCHOOL).

OOOOOOOOOOOOOO YEEEEEEEEEEEEEHHHH

You know. I took the news pretty hard yesterday after receiving a text message from a buddy of mine. Hogan & Savage splitting over Miss Elizabeth on Saturday Nights Main Event was my first foray into the pro wrestling as a child and I still watch (pro wrestling) to this day).

It hurt a little bit more this morning at a wrestling convention that I attended this morning. Seeing guys like Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake, Rick Martel, Tito Santana, and others from that time period, it takes you back to the good old days where wrestling was fun. Wish Macho Man was still around. He was one of those guys that I've always wanted to meet one day. The man (much like Hogan) was larger than life. Sadly, I'll never get the chance...but the "Madness" will still live on...

RIP Macho Man

Well said, my friend.

Found an interesting artice in the wake of Macho man's death...over 25% (14 of 51) of the wrestlers from Wrestlemania VII have died (compared to 0 Super Bowl players from the same year)...sad, sad stuff...

^ That is very telling. I've known for a while that a disproportionate number of wrestlers have died vs. other professions, but that really quantifies it. Something f'd up about the profession. Most by heat attack--in part due to the 'roids--but they seem to die for all kinds of reasons.
