I like the idea that sequels...at least in the short term...will continue to tell the story between this movie and the original POTA movie. After three or four of them...I would like to see a remake of the Charlton Heston Classic.

Maybe they can find a way to make the Marky Mark one fit in...just to be nice to it.:)

In the mid 90s several directors had the green light to remake the Heston POTA and even Arnold was to be used as the lead role. James Cameron dropped out of the project after Titanic hit it big. Also the Tim Burton POTA was insisted by him to be a reimagining and not a remake. Also this, In order to star in the film, Tim Roth declined the role of Professor Severus Snape in "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone". -- IMDb Trivia: Planet of the Apes (2001)):lol:lol:slap

Wow, this movie was so well done!! I tried to stay away from any spoilers or hype, and I'm glad I did. What a pleasant surprise to see something... good these days.

Story was great, character development was great, acting was great (for the most part, didn't care for the neighbor), Andy Serkis was brilliant, and effects were unbelievably realistic.

It's great when a film like this comes along and blows us away. This film had me on the edge of my seat at certain points. Especially the 20 minutes when:
Ceasar is plotting and implementing the apes break out.

Serkis was amazing! Seeing how Caesar developed was so well done. And I loved the scene where he was standing alone waiting for the uprising to start.

Seriously! Would be great if Serkis would get nominated. So much character! I loved how he had that stance with his hands slightly spread apart and his chest out. SO BADASS.

I was on the edge of my seat for most of the movie. The pacing was brilliantly done. They didn't shoot their load in the first 10 minutes, there was a great build-up.

Agreed, the whole part of Caesar plotting his escape with the apes was brilliant. As was the Bridge attack.

I haven't felt this way in a long time. So happy this delivered.

I actually only have one slight issue:

I'm guessing this is a slightly different universe to the original film, but from what the director said about the ship going to Mars being Taylor's ship, it looks like it shares some of that universe. If that is so, I wasn't crazy about most of the humans dying off by a strain of a lab generated virus. It would have been better if we killed ourselves off due to war. That is more in line with the first movie.

Agreed. He deserves atleast an oscar nomination. His performance was all about facial expression and body language.

I liked the plot of the
lab generated virus.

Just saw it

Solid flick! Enjoyed it quite a bit. Not the best movie I've seen in 2011 but glad I saw it. Will buy when it comes out on Blu.

Just watched it online.. INCREDIBLE!

Absolutely loved it.

Favorite movie this year followed by Cap, First Class, and Red Riding Hood (I know, I know..).
Still need to see Thor.

Ya know.. I'm actually a bit disappointed with the lack of Human hate throughout the movie.

I've never seen any of the originals.. except the Mark Wahlberg one, but I always thought Ceasar was this brutal ape who enslaved any living Human..

From what I've seen in this movie.. I'll be surprised if Ceasar and the apes don't
help the Humans find a cure for the disease or something..

Human hate ? Jesus, give the series a chance to develop. They just started evolving and didn't even get a chance yet, and just escaped at the end of the movie !

..

So, Ceasar's mindset is just going to drastically change from this movie to the next? He was even
calling off apes because he knew that the Humans would not understand them, and didn't want to hurt them..

This was THE movie where all the rage for Humans was supposed to begin..

I mean,
"Ceasar is home", /pat on shoulder or whatever..
.. really?
Such a nice, understanding Ape..

I'm not going to argue with some kid that admittedly has never even seen any of the movies except for a Wahlberg remake. Get educated on Planet of the Apes before making comments like you did, and then we'll talk :wave

Jesus, what got stuck up your a$$?..

I just thought we were discussing it.. But we're arguing?
Alright then.

Coming out and insulting me isn't showing much maturity.
Get educated on what maturity is before insulting me FOR being immature.. Which I wasn't in the first place..

Yeah, I haven't seen any of the originals. I stated that incase there was somthing I'm missing.
You haven't said anything about how the hate for Humans grows.. So why are you attacking me?

Really wish there was more Human hate and death in the movie, and you're a perfect example of why. :wave

Oh, and I absolutely loved the movie, favorite of the year as stated in one of my above posts..
