Actually now that I think about it.. that is a pretty good idea.

"I'm gonna make him an offer he can't refuse. If ya SMELLLLLLLLLLAAALALALALALALA.. what the Rockfather.. is COOKING".

:lol

I'd watch that, couldnt be any worse than Alice In Kahkahland.

But seriously...the REASON why we're all for Brody is, he's a GREAT actor. He WON best actor!

Seriously, the fact we have an actually actor in this series again, after the past 2, no named, no talent TV actors, it's extreamly refreshing. I dont see why anyone would even attack it.

And lets just say Brody wasnt cast, the person still would not have been anyone like Arnold, or some big huge man, the script called for a Merc. Not a marine. Royce is a Merc.

And Grace? From the script, he'll do perfect. He's not a bad actor unless you judge him just from Spider-Man 3. Which was bad all around. Only good thing in that movie was Haden Church. His character is probably the most interesting of the bunch.

So i'm sorry you feel that way. But give me talent over looks anyday, because an good actor can make me believe who he is. But a bad actor, even if he looks like he can rip someone's head off, I wouldnt believe he could hurt fly.

Doesn't matter if you're a good actor, if the material sucks it's irrelevant. This isn't some deep, thought provoking drama. It's a F'n monster movie. Trust me, Brody.. hell NO ONE in this film is getting nominated for a Best Actor/Supporting Actor award for their performance in this movie. Unless it's an MTV Movie Award.

How good was Ben Kingsley (another Oscar Winner) in Species? Oh yeah.. he sucked. Because the script was garbage.

You act like just because someone is considered a 'Good Actor' they can magically make any script gold. Doesn't work like that. It's all about the material they have to work with.. and again, this is a monster movie. So it's not about the acting.. it's about the monster i.e. The Predator.

No one is going to this movie to think or see some 'really great acting'. Seriously. They're going to see some Predators kill people. Really basic ish. That's the appeal. It's a popcorn movie, not a multi-layered, twist filled head scratcher.

First off, guarantee you won't find many Marines/Soldiers in general that look like Arnold Schwarzenegger in real life. And what exactly do you think a mercenary is!? A lot of them are ex-military. So I'm not sure why you're acting like a Marine = "some big huge man" and a Mercenary = a skinny, goofy looking twat that always looks like he's about one insult away from crying ala Adrien Brody. The Marines in Aliens weren't muscle bound freaks. Most military movies don't have anyone that looks like Schwarzenegger. Who said the lead had to be an Arnold clone anyways!? I think it's funny you keep focusing on that. Hell Walton Goggins isn't much bigger than Brody and even HE would've been more believable in that role.

What's next? Kate Winslet as the lead in a new Aliens movie? Awesome. :lol

I think the Star Wars prequels are a good example. I think Natalie Portman is a talented actress and her non-Star Wars performances show more ability than those films did.

So? Brody was in a Fn monster movie...King Kong, he did fine. So there ya go.

And no ____ no one's getting nominated, only because they dont care about movies like this. But still. Not the point.

Ben Kingsly hasnt done anything in forever. He's just like Cage.

Actually, no, it's not. It's ABOUT the characters. The HUMANS involved. Not the Predators. That's why this series is in the tubes, they think the Predator should be the star, when it shouldnt be. In order for the Predator to work, you need great actors to sell the characters they play, so when the Predator is killing everyone, you FEEL something for them.

That's why Predator worked. Characters you cared about.

Well, then I hope they end up disappointed. Because this is the same attitude that got us AvP and AvP-R.

Yes, there will be tons of Predator fun....but it's NOT about them.

You dont need to get snappy.

I'm just gonna go quickly with this one...Brody does look pretty lean in this movie...just FYI.

What's next? Kate Winslet as the lead in a new Aliens movie? Awesome. :lol
I dont see why not....like I said, it's about how the actor potrays the character.

I don't think anyone is expecting oscar noms but I don't see any harm in putting good actors in it all the same. I just find your argument a bit self contradictory - on the one hand you're saying that someone playing a marine or mercenary doesn't need to look like Arnold, therefore justifying an unconventional tough guy, and yet on the other you seem to be saying that Adrian Brody is flat out wrong for the film...for not being a conventional tough guy.

And that movie was chocked full of 'great actors' wasn't it? Oh wait.. it wasn't. It was successful because it had the biggest action stars of the 80's/early 90's in it: Arnold and a cool looking monster designed by Stan Winston. Don't get it twisted, if that movie would've had Al Pacino as the lead it would've bombed. Badly.

Read my example, Walter Goggins isn't a yolked up Arnold clone, and imo even he would've been more believable. This is almost as bad as casting Tara Reid as an archaeologist in "Alone in the Dark". :lol

noone would believe a skinny adrian brody guy to go one on one with a friggin hugeass alien like predator. heck, i had a hard time believeing that glover could beat the predator in Predator 2. arnie and all those muscley guys, i could see as a real challenge for preddy. so yes, i agree whoever goes up against pred should have some kinda muscles and strength. P1 was the only movie that i could believe a human vs a big alien like that.

as for the "Acting", these films never had great acting, but great directing. the first film, like many said, made you feel for the characters so it didnt feel like some ol' slasher flick. the suspense, the buildup, the action, it was all very well executed and thats what made the film unique. it was given the A-list treatment for a action movie with a alien in it. the sequels though, just got worse and worse. P2 was the begining of the end, but nowhere near as bad as those AVP movies. first off, i hate the "alien" movies. just....gross. predator is cooler and more human like instead of just a lame stupid monster that breeds and eats ppl.

Whats so wrong about him though? I mean, he looks like he bulked up for the role to me. Doesn't that fulfill a key criterion for casting a plain ol' monster movie action romp? (and a bonus that he happens to be an oscar winning actor) Is it the films hes done before that you just feel he's typecast? His voice, his face? I do think he has a rather large nose but I'm not going to hold that against him just yet. :lol

Its just, CelticP makes an excellent point - they didn't bother casting anyone familiar let alone anyone who was known to be a good actor in the AvP films (Lance Henrikson excepted) - those films were exactly what you seem to be expecting of this film..(just monster movies, popcorn flicks to watch monsters killing people in gruesome ways) so why didn't you like them....or do you???

I didn't have a problem with the actors in those two films. I like Sanaa Lathan. I also like Colin Salmon. And I thought they went about the casting the right way: they made them scientists and they made Sanaa a guide. No problem with that. What I didn't like was the design choices (Making the Predators stubby, fat asses; making the Alien Queen a Jurassic Park, T-Rex reject; the whole Predalien BS). AVP:R.. the funny thing is the biggest complaint I saw about that movie was TOO MUCH story and set-up with the actors and not enough Predator vs. Aliens.

My biggest complaint regarding those two movies:

1. I disliked how the writers/directors force fed the whole "It's Aliens AND Predators!!! Z0MG!!1!!!" angle down our throats. Yeah.. it's a cross over flick. Ok. Understood. But going out of your way to rewrite films we've already seen to combine the two franchises was annoying.

2. Some of the story elements were ridiculous and clashed with the previous films. Like the whole Mayan BS angle of AVP. Thought that was retarded.

Keep your opinions to yourself man.

Speaking of blood feud, this thread has gone terribly wrong.

Anyone arguing that Brody is not the right build for this, doesn't know what they're talking about.

I guarantee the majority of Black Ops soldiers, Navy Seals, Green Berets and the like are not super bulky like Arnold.

They're VERY lean as an overly bulky body would impede, rather than help, in the type of missions they run. It's a fact.

If you're arguing for a bigger Black Ops soldier in this film, it's because you've watched WAY too many movies that perpetuate that myth.

Also, it doesn't matter if your lean or a huge mass of muscle.

A Predator will ____ you up either way.

You need brains.

Why did Arnold win? He couldn't go toe to toe in a ____ing fist fight.

He had to out-smart the Predator.
