Both those endings suck.

I just loved the scapel kill Edwin had. Such a sweet kill.

I wouldnt want to lose that for anything.

In the beginning Edwin has his scapel, and he touches some rare extinct plant with it, and states how poisonous it is, (he gets the poison on the scapel). He tells that to Izzie. And later when Edwin is chasing her, and finally corners her, Izzie grabs the scapel and slices him. Edwin laughs because all she did was scrap him across the face. A cut no worse then a paper cut. But then she repeats the same info Edwin told her about the poison. And then Edwin dies a very painful and fitting demise.

That would be cool, but a bit anticlimactic for me.

Nah, everyone knows of the dreaded Dutch ending. It was not well recived, so I highly doubt they're putting it in the movie.

When I read an ending like that, my hopes for the entire movie just dropped.

AVP:R grossed triple it's budget and AVP almost triple it's budget. Both were financially successful. How are they "Strikes"?

Why aren't we getting AVP 3 then instead of rebooting each franchise, why did FOX go back to the original director that started the Alien franchise, why is Rodriguez' idea getting pulled down from a dusty shelf after being sat on for a long time? It's easy to triple your investment when you put no money in, but whatever financial return they got, they know the fans weren't happy. I'm sure a lot of the sales were new people who don't have long attachment to the franchises but are starting with AVP, but the long time fans haven't been thrilled with the outcomes of the AVP films, and thus the franchises are getting rebooted to bring those people back.

Predators isn't a reboot. Neither is the new Alien movie supposedly coming out. Neither movie is starting over and retelling the entire story from scratch, throwing out all the previous continuity. That's what a reboot is.

As far as AVP, those movies were made not only to cash in on the gimmick of combing the two franchises but also to gather interest for each franchise separately (Predator 3/Predators had been rumored for a LONG time). They served their purpose AND made money. Who knows.. we might see another one.
