Re: RobertoBagg10's Display Thread *My movie Iron Man LSF collection...as it stands*
Hey Andy. What's your thoughts on the Pred 2 MQ? I knew you were originaly planning on getting one but I've not seen it on your PO list. I'm really tempted, I must admit the only thing putting me off at the moment is the price. I feel it's quite expensive
Hats of to you though buddy, your collection is coming on great I don't know how you do it. Since my 2nd little one has come along I've been spending close to LSF prices a month on food & clothing for them
Hey Steve, good to hear from you buddy
how is all going with the new bubba? All good I hope and getting lots of sleep
The Pred 2 MQ eh....well, for me personally, I'm more of a Pred 1 fan first and foremost and as I missed out on the P1 Cinamaquette and Sideshows Maquette, I was drawn towards the Pred 2 MQ. This is because my collection lacks a decent Predator. I have the Dutch PF still and it desperately needs a companion piece. However, the problems I had with it was firstly the base which is rather dull looking in my opinion...as you know, I love a diorama on my bases and it just could've been designed better I think. Secondly, when viewing the pics from Comic Con, it appeared to me that from certain angles, the pose of the P2 looks slightly awkward but from some angles looks exceptional. So having a statue that is restricted to certain display angles is already restricting me as to how I display it. Thirdly and finally, is the price!!! It's just too damn expensive and with new pieces arriving this year like the MKVII LSF and the Doom LSF, I think I'd rather put that money into those pieces instead.
On a positive note, I'll have a custom P1 1/4 piece arriving in the second quarter of this year so fingers crossed I'll finally have a top notch P1 in my collection at last!!! Here are a few pics of how it's coming along
As for my LSF additions, well, I can only agree with you buddy abt paying untold more wonga on extra nappies, food, presents, etc...basically, i try to keep my finances split between home life which is anything from holidays to food to mortgages, etc...then I have the funds for my hobbies. So at present, the only way I'm able to find this hobby is by selling parts of my collection...I never use money that I earn for a living towards collecting as that would then become a problem. My partner is so supportive in my hobby and knows the moment I can't afford a new piece that I'll be sensible to either let it go (grudgingly lol!) or to sell another piece to raise funds for it. It's as simple as that. I think most collectors here will agree that when you start dipping in to finances you don't have soley to purchase new items, then it starts to become a problem...it maybe not so bad for those who are still living at home or those who don't have that many responsibilities in life such as paying mortgages, bills, food, etc...but for those who's families depend on your income to put food on the table and heat in your home, etc...then the problems start.
I've been lucky the past few months and managed to sell some pieces in my collection that have sold really well. Infact, I managed to at last sell one of my Iron Man MKIII LSFs which if you remember arrived damaged. That was the one which in the end cost me not a single penny as the seller refunded me for it and then told me to keep it
I spent a good month repairing it, stripping all the paint off and repainting it...so it's sales like these that have helped me emmensely to be able to maintain this hobby. I know you had to sell a few of your pieces too which must have been hard to do, especially as I know how hard and long it took for you to find them in the first place...I feel the same also when it comes to selling my pieces too but unfortunately, in an ideal world, it would be great to keep every statue/figure or bust that we've ever bought and just keep adding to it...but alas...unless your a millionaire who lives in a castle, it just isn't going to happen
