For those that may have seen on a few of the Statue groups on Facebook last week, I finally got to complete my 1/6 Scale Avengers Assemble Diorama by Iron Studios and I really couldn't be happier once I'd set them all up to see how they'd look altogether
Overall, its a fantastic effort by Iron Studios and totally capture the essence of the 'New York Battle' scenes from the Avengers movie and the fact it's in 1/6 scale totally works for me and in my opinion is the perfect size for a diorama, especially one which has no many characters!
Talking of which, there are a few downsides to this diorama, and that is the fact that we are missing 2 important characters which completed the Avengers Team so to speak
they are, of course, Black Widow and Hawkeye....yup, for some strange reason, Iron Studios failed to deliver the whole team which does suck a little but certainly doesn't take away anything from all the sets they've released in this diorama. Some may argue that Black Widow and Hawkeye aren't the more popular characters in the team but I must say it would've been nice to have them both nonetheless
However, I have a cunning plan!
I actually have a Hot Toys 1/6 scale Black Widow on the way (which I scored for a great price) and I'm confident I can fit her into the display! What I have in my favour is that I have a spare base (as I purchased 2 Iron Man sets) and so I'm hoping she'll blend in fairly easily despite the rest of the characters being fully sculpted...only the Hulk statue features any mixed media and those are his pants...so fingers crossed
At some point I'd also like to add the Hot Toys Hawkeye figure aswell but he's a little more hard to come by on the secondary market and also goes for quite high prices
but we'll see how well BW fits in first
The only other negative I could find regarding this diorama was that some of the paint apps were a little sub par in places and some of the likenesses were a little off...however, nothing overly major but for example, Captain America's outfit could have been painted a little more matte in my opinion as its a little shiny for me and then the likenesses of Thor, Cap and inparticularly Hulk, could've been tweaked a little more but that's me being overly critical as those issues tend to fade in the background once your seeing the whole set on display and in front of your very eyes
My favourite set of the Diorama of course has to be Iron Man
but I'm not just saying that as a fan of the character...it's actually superbly done and I can totally recommend that set as just a one off purchase for any Iron Man fan cos it looks amazing on display just on its own! And the light features just give it that extra edge over all the other sets
also just to point out that there are two versions of the Iron Man sets and the Captain America set...basically the regular version is the more clean suit and the Exclusive version is a battle damaged variant so you can choose which one you'd prefer. Looking back in hindsight, I think I should have opted for the Captain America exclusive variant instead as this may have taken the shine off the suit a little as like I mentioned earlier, the regular version is a tad too shiny for me.
So to summarise, I'm totally over the moon to own this amazing diorama and now comes the fun part of creating a nice display for them all...I know my man and fellow Freak 'chrisdeeds' has some epic displays featuring some cool backdrops to his statues and busts and I think that would totally work for this display
What do you think Chris?
However, I'm really looking forward to seeing how well the Hot Toys Black Widow will fit in too so as soon as I have her inhand (which should be this week) then i'll update the thread and share some pics with you guys
As ever guys, thanks so much for looking and for all your great support
here are a few pics I took just to give you a rough idea of how they look once altogether....
