Re: Robocop....making a comeback?

That's quite a burn you got going on over there; I like it. :yess:

I think the person whom you were responding to is intentionally oppositional. If everyone else agrees on something, he appears with 50,000 made-up reasons why they are all wrong for thinking so; its a real hoot.

It does not matter what the subject is: you are wrong and he is right. At least in his own head.

:hi5:

In actuality Nova takes the kidding well in stride, at the end of the day, we're both Spidey fans, but you're right, we're diametrically opposed Spidey fans. :lol

Re: Robocop....making a comeback?

I'm going to wait and see with this one before judging it. I have no idea how it might pan out.

I thought Dredd was going to be a piece of crap. I instantly thougth "reminds me of the new Robocop film and the Total Recall remake", thankfully I was dead wrong.

As for the suit, eh, I don't like it at all. The original is a classic, Alex Murphy is like a Knight in shining armor ready to take back old Detroit where this is just generic. Looks like Batman, Iron Man, and GI JOE (that last one) mixed in with the typical black armor trend that Tim Burton inspired.

BUT, I've done this with character costumes/visuals before where I hate and hate on them but then sometimes they grow on me (Unlike Bane who always looked like a piece of ****).

Will wait and see. Whatever happens, good or bad, I still have the original Robocop with Weller and Verhoeven. If this interpretation somehow compliments that, great, if it's a steaming pile of ****, oh well.

Expectations are a strange thing. I've found out this year that films I have little expectations for like Avengers and Dredd (I thought Avengers was going to be Transformers crap; already mentioned Dredd) have become my favorites while films I had anticipated for years and thought were "too big to fail" turned out to be "meh" (Looking at you TDKR and Brometheus).

Re: Robocop....making a comeback?

Keep seeing script reviews online pointing out that the new Robo is supposed to be fast and agile... Not sure how they could make him look like the traditional version and give him faster mobility... But as is with all remakes, they're damned one way or another...

Its not the sleekness that bothers me, its the fact that its rubberized all-black - and these days, that look belongs to one guy above all: Batman.

It looks like a bat-suit and I believe that is intentional. So I say, fail.

Don't expect to see a clone of the original suit up there, but some references to it design-wise would not come amiss.

Re: Robocop....making a comeback?

I dunno. I think a special needs kid would read his posts and say, "Damn, that kidth wetaded!"

Heh. He's young and silly, as evidenced by his posting-style; hopefully he will grow out of it. I just put him on the back-burner and let his crazy simmer on low; there is no reasoning with him and so I never waste my energy anymore.

Re: Robocop....making a comeback?

You forgot "Amazing Spider-Ham" wich was essentially a hammed up rehash of Raimi's flick, with a lizard.
I also forgot: 'Clash Of the Cretins' :lecture :lol

DiFabio - I see your point there about expectations etc, but Dredd NEEDED a better movie - needed.

RoboCop doesn't - it's as basic as that for my money. :huh

:exactly: If even just to give him a better suit! :lol
Nah, Stallone looked a little goofy

New costume, while not necessarily as faithful, looks much better:

Re: Robocop....making a comeback?

^^^One big problem was, its impossible to take Stallone seriously. He plays the same character in everything he does. One could say the same of Schwartzenegger, but at least he is more likeable while he does it.

Re: Robocop....making a comeback?

^ that was fun for what it was.

Problem is people hate what i like, and remain insanely hyped about what i've become bored with :dunno

Take the Guardians thread for example, I LOVE GUARDIANS, i go in their to voice my excitement and all people can do is troll and insult it, so i can't go in that thread to voice my like of it without being against the grain, same with ASM movie or figure threads

So yeah, i'm not gonna sit back and watch people trash something i like without commenting.

_________

is there a release date set for this yet?

Re: Robocop....making a comeback?

Re: Robocop....making a comeback?

I like what I'm seeing but what's this doing in the "Robocop" thread? Am I lost?

Re: Robocop....making a comeback?

It looks like a black Iron Man suit.

:exactly:

i'm going to reserve judgement till i see the movie. but i'm definitely in the "classic that NEVER needed to be reimagined" camp on robocop. they might surprise us, but i've got my new robocop fix from dredd 3D.

Re: Robocop....making a comeback?

When i think of a robot i think of metal not black plastic :dunno

Suit looks bad but film might be good, not as good as the originial because... Well c'mon :lol
