Re: Melting Emil - Robocop - Head Sculpt Complete

Thanks guys! Vash, the tools I use aren't anything special. I did make one using a dowel, wire, and heat shrink. Other than that I use a coarse brush to knock down any tool marks and then a finer brush with white spirits.

Re: Melting Emil - Robocop - Head Sculpt Complete

It looks really good man :rock :rock As I said before if you think of offering casts I'd be interested :duff

Re: Melting Emil - Robocop - Head Sculpt Complete

Love it! That very accurately replicates the gross, creepy make-up from the movie. Well done!

Re: Melting Emil - Robocop - Head Sculpt Complete

I'm glad you guys approve. Getting close to the likeness was pretty important to me. I'll be doing the same for the body. The next few steps will require molding materials, latex, and latex paints among other things. So, I've now started an interest thread just to do that, here. The amount of interest won't really affect the project but would be a nice safety net.

Re: Robocop - Melting Emil - Head Sculpt Complete

The bodies in. The head looks a little big for two reason. The angle I used is dramatic and enhances the size and the body will be bulked up with the added rubber parts. The latex I'll be using has a 5% shrinkage so I plan to do a test mold/cast once it's in to ensure a good fit. Then it's on to sculpting the body.

Re: Robocop - Melting Emil - Painted Head

I'm not entirely happy with this paint up but it's my very first in this scale. Here's a video of the painted head and a set of pics to show a bit more detail. The camera just has a tough time picking it all up. Good example of the head in different lighting at least. This is a cast straight from the mold with no seaming of filling.

I'll be putting off work on the body for a couple weeks as a local con is coming up and interest seems to be a little low. Thanks for looking guys!

Re: Robocop - Melting Emil - Painted Head

Convention went well. Mohair finally came in. First attempt at it . . . looks okay.

Re: Robocop - Melting Emil - Painted Head

Thanks. It was my first go with mohair so I felt it was a little iffy. Looking at it now it's genuinely creepy in person. I almost wished I'd attempted it for the goatee and sideburns.

Re: Robocop - Melting Emil - Painted Head

Mkay, I'm a little all over the place project wise due to the holidays. Hope to start tinkering with the body sculpt fairly soon. Glad everyones liked it so far.

Re: Robocop - Melting Emil - Painted Head

Man this is looking awesome dude. Do I remember you saying this is a run ? id def be interested.

Re: Robocop - Melting Emil - Baisic Body Sculpt

Just finished a very basic sculpt over the figures body. Since latex has a five to ten percent shrink rate this will ensure the skin won't be too small once cured. I'd thought to leave an gap in one arm for a bit more articulation but I'm now think it won't be that big of an issue.

Here you can see the exposed area that is on each side of the skin and allows it to slip over the body. It will be something like slipping on a shirt or so I hope.

My next step will be to order latex for a test mold/cast. This will again help for a better fitting the skin.

Re: Robocop - Melting Emil - Basic Body Sculpt

Latex is in (if anyones paying attention) and I should be on to making a temp mold of one of the forearms for a test fit. This will determine if I need a thicker or thinner clay base before sculpting the remainder of the figure.

Re: Robocop - Melting Emil - Test Skin

Okay, made a quick plaster mold of one of the clay arms. I painted the latex inside the mold and allowed it to dry. It came out far thinner than I'd like but decent enough for a test. The thickness of the clay seems perfect and should allow the final skin to be a little under 1/16th of an inch. Here's the untrimmed/undetailed test skin:

The folding at the elbow should be lessened in the final skin but will also play into Emil's melted look. The thickness of the wrist can be lessened as well. Tell me what ya think!

Re: Robocop - Melting Emil - Test Skin

Thanks so much Ronin and Rambler. I'm now onto sculpting the skin and really enjoying it. I think everyone will get a huge kick out of him.

Re: Robocop - Melting Emil - Test Skin

Alrighty, here's the torso as it stands now. I'm currently working on the back. Then arms. Tell me what ya think.
