Re: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (12/16/16)

The only thing I can come up with is that something was edited out with cgi in these frames to hide a plot element, all trailers do that now ie; Spiderman removed from Civil War tarmac line up in the trailer.

So because of that it distorted the helmet?

Or i'm wrong and it's really this bad lol

In that case

Agreed. But then I have to ask why put that in the trailer at all.

Re: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (12/16/16)

It's the international trailer so perhaps they don't give a damn about whatever countries use the language that's at the beginning.

Re: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (12/16/16)

But its nearly identical to the US trailer #2. Did you not see that one?

It is good. Looks better than TFA to me. Hope its not too heavy-handed though. It does seem to be too serious in many ways.

I thought this trailer felt bigger, maybe it was the new Death Star shots or even the kyber crystal necklace stuff, just seemed more storybook like, more SW.
I still can't stand some elements that feel more like cheesy TV (background rebels are cardboard cutout cliches). But I will give it a go...

I hope it is heavy handed. That is what will set it apart from the Skywalker story. If they are going to do a Star Wars movie every year or two movies a year, then they need to go outside the box to maintain interest. That is why the Marvel movies do so well because some are drama, others action/adventure and others comedy. If you make them all the same then we will get burn out quickly.

Re: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (12/16/16)

Imagine the scrutiny of the OT films if social media and technology existed back in the day....all the inconsistencies that is loved today would have been torn apart....sometimes too much isn't a good thing.

Re: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (12/16/16)

I see people say that quite a bit, but would they really be torn apart like that? ROTJ perhaps a little, but I wouldn't think that the first two would cop very much criticism at all. :huh

Re: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (12/16/16)

Neh. Technology didn't stop the vast majority of people from loving the Lord of the Rings trilogy, nor did social media stop the vast majority of people from enjoying The Avengers or The Winter Soldier.

In fact, a surprising amount the people (not all, just stressing that point :lol) hating on either DC or Marvel productions these days seem to be bandwagoners with brand loyalty so fierce that it would terrify any rational, decent human being. :lol They're a small but vocal minority that often get more attention than they deserve.

As an aside, reviews of the original Star Wars movies weren't always so crash-hot on release. People look back on Empire as one of the greatest movies and sequels ever made, but it's easy to forget that the reaction from critics wasn't so loving, nor for Jedi. The people loved them, and still do, and that's what matters. Gawd knows how many of today's geek movies will have staying power like the OT. https://www.starwars.com/news/critical-opinion-the-empire-strikes-back-original-reviews

I will say this, with each new tease and trailer I keep seeing revealed I do like the emphasis on the picturesque graphics of each surrounding used in the film.

Even when they show the fighter planes flying to a location, it looks like a work of art.

It definitely gives you the sense of Disney behind this production rather than a Lucas inspired film :lecture

I have a feeling this film is going to change the way we view a SW flick. Maybe for the better :clap
