Re: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (12/16/16)

Looking at the "Who Posted?" stats I see that a lot of the most prolific posters here are those who trolled the TFA thread. Just a reminder that that's not gonna fly this year.

jye strikes again....

I truly hope I like this movie. Love might be too much to ask... but wouldn't it be wonderful.

I just can't see all the doctoring that went on as a positive influence in the final product. Something will suffer as a result.

Re: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (12/16/16)

My litmus test for an "acceptable" Star Wars film will probably always be Return of the Jedi. If any new film is as good or better than that then I'll be fine with Disney cranking out however many they want. If we start getting a bunch of junk like the prequels/ewok TV movies, etc., diluting the franchise then that will get annoying.

But I think ROTJ gives them a decent enough margin for error (since that movie was pretty heavily flawed in several areas) to keep me coming back for more.

im positive i wont hate this. im very sure.

but it MIGHT disappoint me and i might find it boring. i think that could happen. but i dont think this will be a "Hate" movie. i really doubt it

Re: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (12/16/16)

I hope for better than Jedi. I 'like' Jedi but I always felt it was lazily thrown together with only the final Emperor scene being the reason that story needed to be told. It was also the first time that the merchandizing became so blatantly obvious (everyone called it the Muppet Show back in 1983). It is more highly loved by the generation that watched it as very young children and never noticed its flaws until it was already ingrained in them. Then the PT hit and made even the wooden-acting in Jedi look good.

But if Rogue One is 'as good' as Jedi, I'd be fine with that. Today's crazy video-game-inspired CGI "battles and chases" are the new 'Muppet merchandizing' for this generation. Seeing people flying around and battling with no harm (from Matrix 3 to Iron Man vs Ultron) is exhausting and boring to me.

Re: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (12/16/16)

As far as ROTJ, yeah, nostalgia definitely plays a big part in forgiving its "sins." So ideally each new film would be "better" but still, my point was that even with the nostalgia I still am annoyed (and even bored) by certain parts and yet I still enjoy it overall. So if LFL can at least equal however you want to quantify the composite score of ROTJ as it exists today with all factors taken into account then I'll be more than entertained going forward.

If any new SW film actually transcends to be a bona fide masterpiece then great, but I won't moan and groan if we get nothing but ROTJ's from here on out.

For the longest time I was reading it as "Threadcapping", which makes a lot more sense. :lol

Re: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (12/16/16)

I have zero expectations going in unlike TFA which I was pleasantly surprised and frustrated with...
Felicity makes or breaks it as far as I'm concerned- the other actors are stand in generic bad/good heroes to me. Effects may be the best yet so that's exciting.

Re: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (12/16/16)

I'm a huge sw nerd, but after Force awakens I don't care to see this film (trailer does look awesome). Probably buy the Blu ray, pop it in one boring day,

But I'm cracking up reading about ppl protesting the film cause its anti-Donald Trump. I guess someone started a rumor that the reshoots were to add anti-trump scenes. No way it can be true, this fake news stuff is kinda funny with ppl believing it.

Re: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (12/16/16)

And someone replies "What are you some basement dwelling loser who doesn't know how to have fun at the movies? How pathetic" or whatever equivalent then in that case it would obviously be the "fan" who was out of line.
I'm only glad this is finally being taken into consideration.

And personally I don't see a reason why you shouldn't participate in this thread, I hated big time on TFA, JW and TG; movies you were positive about, and you never gave me skewed treatment over that.

you need to be the mod for the VGM section. It's a complete ****ing mess. :lol
I know you're sore because you couldn't get away with it, but the mod determined everybody was being respectful expressing their opinions on TLOU thread. Let it go.
