Re: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (12/16/16) *NO SPOILERS ALLOWED*

My mini review:

The movie starts with similar vibe as Inglorious Bastards. 1 hour into the movie, I'm trying hard not to fall asleep. I had to remind myself each time that I'm watching a Star Wars movie and not some random scifi movie with characters that are unrelateable. The only scenes I enjoyed were the Tarkin scenes and Vader scenes. Especially the last scene, which meant I only enjoyed bout 4-5 min during the whole 2 hours or so of the whole movie. This is worst than suicide squad, it gets a 5/10 for me. I'd not watch it again ever.

Woah, worse than suicide Squad? That's pretty bad.

Atleast the Vader and Tarkin stuff sounds really good. That's all I've been interested in since this was announced anyway.

So I just saw a Darth Vader scene of like 20 seconds.... It was cool...

Is that all or.... ?

So... can I take my 10, 11 and 12 year olds to see this or no?

Hey so, does the death star scenes feature the hum heard in ANH? Plus do you see the hayden resemblence in the tank scene?

More or less I have the same feelings, Hydeous. I didn't see SS so I cannot compare but TFA was indeed much better, imho. But Vader was great, at the end.

It's a good movie, there's things that you're average SW fan will only get and others that they'll just cringe at. Basically it's a film for The die hard SW fan and if you can stomach the PT then this will be like they've turned back the clock to 1983.

Just saw it

Enjoyed it

Felt more like the OT then the TFA

Wasn't ESB good, no, but entertaining

My only gripe I guess, seemed to predictable, lol

Tarkin scenes look awesome, I was a bit put off by them in the cinema but ANH was playing on the TV when I got home, and memory betrayed me, they really did well with this.

Alot of nods to other SW works. The Whills, Evazan and Ponda Baba are seen. Gold and Red Leader from ANH like noisetrigger said shows up in the last space battle, and it looks great. Leia at the end looks great aswell, good CGI.

I think I saw the Ghost from rebels in that last space battle aswell.

Vader is awesome, he kicks ass. I noticed the cod piece but I'm damaged from reading the R1 Vader thread. :lol

Felicity Jones steals the show, great acting. Great acting across the board really but she is excellent.

K-2SO a bit to much comedy but it works.

The first half hour is a bit slow though, but after that it's great.

And no opening crawl! Blasphemy! :lol

Agree with these statements, especially how the beginning was slow

Vaders voice was off but the bacta tank scene was cool. Nasir khan was a bit of a bust as a character though

Characters not relateable? Did we watch the same movie?

I saw it last night. I'll have to see it again. There was too much to take in and it'll take some time to be able to let go enough to enjoy it as so much felt to be riding on it.

On the whole I loved it but felt James Earl Jones sounded old, CGI Tarkin was very distracting and CGI Leia was awful. They didn't need to show her face. I wish they hadn't.

Yep, not really interesting. My favourite was the droid. And Chirrut has his moments (and spoke about The Force of the Others, which is a nice touch). The rest were a bit flat.
